Scream 6 | David Arquette Speaks On Dewey's Death + Possible Return

Scream 6 is gonna explore the fall out from Dewey's death with Gale most likely. David Arquette commented on his characters demise with Empire. It seems he was joking about a potential return as well. Dewey's Death added a lot of emotional weight to Scream 5 and hopefully it continues to add value to Ghostface killing sprees for Gale and Sidney.

Dewey shouldn’t have been killed….but like Randy being killed it added a sharp emotional layer to the story.

Honestly for many people it added absolutely nothing to the ark of the film . Sidney and Gale were shoehorned into the last part of the film to make up for Dewey's death . It happened, it was over and then your supposed to move on to the new cast's antics at a party, nah sorry lazy transparent writing . They could have utilized the original characters more integrally to the overall story, instead of glorified cameos . I think it's nonsense how people say it's a hero's death, it was not, its just some people trying to like the film more, yet it's their opinion, respectfully enjoy what you want . Some comparing Randy's death to Dewey's, Randy was only in two films at this point, only a year in, Dewey is a character whose been with people for 25 years . It's not being closed minded though, if your a writer or creative person, or just film lover, you can interpret it as lazy screenwriting and shoehorn filmmaking. But hey everyone is entitled to their own opinions and enjoy what people put out into the cinemas . It really does not do what Drew Barrymore did, she was a new character in the opening of a new original film, not base dona franchise at this point, with characters you know . You didn't even spend the whole film with her or 25 years . Sorry sometimes, you have to admit they did it for shock value, and to be fake daring and different . There are literally 20 other ways to integrate Dewey into the story and get Sidney back to Woodsboro, they were just rushing to get it done . If anything have Dewey taken out, in the end, while with Gale, Sidney, Tara and Sam, then would carry emotionally into the next film, great final ark . Why kill him in the presence of strangers, who know him for a few hours for shock value .But hey there are worse problems, there not real people, its still just a movie, and Scream 5 is over and Dewey's gone. Let's agree to disagree, love your content Overlord, keep up the good work, still looking forward to Scream 6 . But, ONE minute of grieving for Dewey was not respect, and then bam there at a party . Sorry that's not respect . Yes Rachel's death was a travesty . Want to see a good death of major character, look at Ellen Ripley in Alien 3, Spock in Star Trek 2, Nancy in Nightmare 3, Buffy in Season 5, even though she came back lol etc. This nah.... but hey it's all subjective . People can feel the way they want it's only a movie, not real life lol.

I'm not surprised he died, just too bad they pretty much gave him the Han Solo treatment, really making his death the least impactful, even though he was one of the longest living characters. Scream 5 felt more like poorly written fanfiction tbh. Seriously, Randy had a far more impactful death, since he isn't just going up to the killer and talking trash, he legitimately didn't know where the killer was.

I would agree with David Arquette but is it really worth it to kill off Dewey mean they didn't have to kill them all

I would like a flashback of maybe a scene from scream 4 or something we didn’t see in one of the other movies. Or maybe a flashback with him and gale.

I saw the movie opening day and it had a q&a that played after. One thing the David said he had a problem with was the level of alcoholism Dewy was portrayed to be suffering from. They cut it down in the script, then during filming David said he didn't like a couple of scenes that took place earlier in the movie for a similar reason and those scenes were cut. I feel the new production group really wants to honor Wes and the actors that made this series what it is today.

Love David Arquette, love Dewey, and him being killed off sucked - but I get it. Scream 6 will definitely feel like something is drastically missing and I do hope they find a way to incorporate him.

Dewey cannot come back, Amber Freeman really did a number on him. Plus, his body has been wheeled out by the coroner. Believe me, like Randy Meeks’s death, Dewey’s death destroyed me too and I wish neither men have been killed off throughout the franchise, but, it’s like what Randy and all other experts after him have said...anyone can die. Fair or unfair, right or wrong...it’s fact and it’s life. 😔
