4 years late, but I have one of these in good condition. Like mentioned by another viewer, it is the HFI 700, and mine has that on it, instead the Alienware logo. I got it with my Alienware laptop. And it was 2005, and about $200. Comparable to decent headphones in the range, but maybe not for mastering.

they are called the UltraSone HFI-700 if anyone was wondering

For just around $30 the Pioneer M531's I think are quite good Z. Decent amount of low end and there is depth with the sound stage. Also close back Audio Technica ATHRE700 are good but have small diameter ear cups.

Whenever I manage to get my AKG K550 headphones back together I'll see if I can get them out to you to review. They are going to be modded but I'll let you know what was changed from stock. I'm going to try to see if I can get them as far back to stock as possible. I actually own two so maybe I can get both out to you one with more aggressive mods than the other one.

You might want to try the ATH-A1000X or ATH-A2000X. They're closed-back versions of the ATH-AD series, but I don't know how the sound might change by enclosing the cans.

I own a pair of Ultrasone, looks the same except on top it says HFI-650 Trackmaster and top sides S-logic. I bought them 2004, i think.
Mine are not in good shape, but still working and i still use them.
I like the sound of mine, not the same drivers maybe?

You aren't making sound demo of each headphone reviews anymore? I like to compare each headphone Sound sig using my M40x (for bare minimal comparison when try before buy isn't available) I'm missing it.... T_T

Hi Zeos, little bit off topic, but I have a question. Massdrop is offering the oDAC and the Objective 2 on sale, so I have a couple of options for my Philips Fidelio X2's.

1- Getting oDAC (which has USB + RCAs for $120 USD) + O2 ($95 USD with RCAs) or complete package ($199 USD with RCAs)
2- Getting oDAC + Fiio E09K (and connect via RCAs) = $120 + $100 = $220 USD
3- Getting SMSL Sanskrit ($100 USD and has more options, USB + SPDIF) + Fiio E09K. = $200 USD.

Thinking of going for option 3, but I saw some reviews talking about the poor build quality on the sanskrit and it makes me wonder about long term durability.

They cover the driver because S-Logic and stuff. They say it won't fuck up your ears if they do that.

Why not the Sony MDR-7506 for mastering? Seems to fit the bill.

Clock please don't kill me, but Z. Those 580's IMO blow away these 700's you reviewed.

I hope someone sends you the new Massdrop/Fostex TH-XOO for you to review. 1st drop just ended, 1950 sold...about 1200 peeps already signed up for the next drop.

These or the dodgy MDR-XD200 you did ages ago? (which I secretly love cos they were my first pair)

They look exactly like my Ixos Ministry of sound dj1001s...the only difference is those don't have the boost switch on the left cup

I'd like to see ASUS and Beyerdynamic work together for Gaming/Audiophile Headphones.
