"The clarity on the K99s are great. They produce an accurate tonal sound-scape that you can really bring out those "hidden" elements that you have missed before. For the price, the sound quality is exceptional. They don't sweeten the sound at all (artificially raising bass/mids/treble), so you are free to EQ your sound however you wish irrespective of the headphones.

Comfort:
I wear glasses, and one of the biggest concerns I had was the comfort of the headphones while wearing glasses. Many fellow four-eyes out there are familiar with the experience of having your frames pressed against your skull; the headphones griping your ears in a way in such a way that would make Darth Vader's choke seem tame.

Well, let me say that these headphones are deceptively comfortable and light for their bulk. No longer does the top of my head ache from a cheap plastic/metal band. The suspended pad does a wonderful job of protecting your soft noggin-tissue. The ear pads cup over the ears and rest gently, and the headphones suspend from the top, rather than pressing from the sides. This translates into less ear fatigue in longer listening durations."

I love how honest and direct you are. Lol. I have these too and was always regretful of getting them but just kept them as a spare of a spare if I ever needed it. Its been 8 years and they are still collecting dust. You basically expressed my thoughts for me. If you're spending under $100 for AKG Headphones. .then you'll be getting low end performance.

To be fair I think these are called Perception specifically because they commonly come bundled with the Perception microphones and are only really intended for monitoring your own voice while you do spoken word podcasts and stuff like that. I don't think AKG even markets these as a music headphone. Still shitty, but I kind of get it.

■ I bought it for 20 euros ( four years ago) and since I listen radio all time I found it enough for my purpose. Even music sounds clear . For the price you do not expect to reach heaven, but it is ok. Works perfect with my phone. Impedanz = ok.
■ I will never buy Boss or JBL and give 200 USD for shit, in that case I will go for Sennheizer, Sony or other more sophisticades AKG than K99.
■ I broke the earpads so I looking for a good pair of earpads
The negative point for the AKG99 is the cable. It is very solid, but roo long since I use it every day on my way to work.

I don't get it. Are you saying that these are crap compared to Superlux hd668b/hd300/hd681/hd681 EVO? What about the Sennheiser hd201's? What about the AKG K77? Are those crap too? You're the only one on the internet that thinks these headphones are crap. That's why I'm skeptical.

Did you try the Samson SR950? It seems to be a rebranded Superlux HD662 with velour earpads. The price is quite low right now on amazon (35$) and I wonder how it performs against my Kingston HyperX Clouds.

TBH I owned the K44s for about half a year and didn't really like them but they were bearable. These headphones are almost the exact same a worthy successor for the Krap44s.

I upgraded from the AKG K99's to the Superlux 668B's and while the definition and soundstage is better on the Superlux, the highs have that sibilant 9k Hz spike. If you don't know/want to mess with the EQ, the K99's are more practical.
