NEW All-Electric Ford Capri (2025) Unveiled

The 2024 Ford Capri is a surprise return of a classic Ford nameplate, but in a completely new form.

Gone is the sleek fastback coupe of the past; the new Capri is an electric SUV. It shares its platform with the Ford Explorer, but with a more stylishly sloping roofline. While some reviewers find this design a bit awkward, it does offer more cargo space than the Explorer.

There are two battery and motor options available. The base Capri comes with a rear-wheel-drive layout and a single electric motor rated at 282 horsepower and 402 pound-feet of torque. This gets you from 0 to 62 mph in 6.4 seconds, which is respectable but not exactly neck-snapping. The range is a very good 389 miles according to the WLTP cycle.

If you want more performance, you can opt for the all-wheel-drive Capri with a dual-motor setup. This makes 335 horsepower and gets you from 0 to 62 mph in 5.3 seconds. The range drops slightly to 367 miles.

Both versions of the Capri can be fast-charged using a DC fast charger. The 77 kWh battery can go from 10% to 80% charge in 28 minutes, while the 79 kWh battery takes just 26 minutes.

The interior of the Capri is modern and minimalist, with a large 14.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system dominating the center console. The cabin is comfortable and spacious, and the ride quality is smooth and quiet.

Overall, the 2024 Ford Capri is a stylish and capable electric SUV. It's not going to win any awards for handling, but it's a comfortable and practical choice for families who are looking for an EV with a bit more personality than the average crossover.
