I can't believe they have a season 3!! Because season 1 explained the aftermath. Season 2 explained how it all began and they ended it. And season 3 is probably the aliens who were left over, they took their knowledge & created a black hole, probably to go back before he killed her or something !? So, without a doubt, this season is going to be particularly... interesting, to say the least! I'll watch it. I'll give it a go BUT, if you've followed the series closely, then you'll be as surprised as I was hearing a 3rd season! I'll be waiting all so patiently.. 😈

There is something that doesn’t make sense to me, but maybe I’m missing something. From the moment after Bill pushes Emily off of the roof, all of her descendants could never have been born and game over, correct? And yet two of her alien descendants walk out of the hospital and see her lying dead on the ground, they should no longer exist. This seems to be a big discrepancy. This is bothering me a lot. The way the second season ends leaves no clear justification for a third season.

I was intrigued by the first season despite its very loose connection to the source material it’s named after, disappointed by the direction it took in the second series and the revelation about the ‘aliens’ and their motives, and I was surprised to learn there would be a third season and wondered how it could look even remotely interesting to hold viewers attention.

But this trailer has surprised me. I’ll give it one more try, so long as I treat it separate to the novel because even now this show has nothing to do with H G Wells’ words.

I'm still at the beginning of season 2. So far I have a love hate relationship with this. Constant dragging out plot points or neglecting very important plot points like
- the aliens were able to scan an entire planet, deploy indestructible pods worldwide creating a super weapon that renders all vehicles, machinery, electronics, and humans that were exposed to this EMP like pulse dead but apparently that weapon can only be used once but no one talks about that. Seriously why didn't they just emit another pulse every day for like 1 month straight to make sure they did as much damage as possible before sending down their people. If it could only be used once then at least question that fact in the story.
- if the pods/electro magnetic weapons that originally landed were made from such a super strong alloy that could handle heating up through earths atmosphere, smashing into the ground, and take direct hits from jet missiles without a scratch why make your ships out of normal metal that is easily destroyed when crash landing into earth...
- if the aliens are so super advanced that they had such a weapon, have figured out how to merge biological matter with machines and can quantum travel through space then why on earth do they use pen and paper, and basic earthling weaponry? They can bend space and time to travel but haven't improved on standard hunting rifles...
- I'm sure it'll be explained at some point but okay they are almost identical to humans that are a super advanced race but also not... They all look like Glenn from accounting, wear the same clothes, have the same haircuts, and speak english. Also the only way to tell them apart from us is a small fricken tattoo! Stop tattooing your people then you might be able to infiltrate the human bases. WTF!
- No vehicles work but the French trio stumble upon an old man that was trying to kill himself by gassing himself in his own car. Are we not going to talk about the fact that his car has to work in order to do that?

Thoroughly enjoyed season 3. I was not sure that I would after the superb 1 and 2, just couldn't see what they would do but all 8 episodes were great. Hopefully there will be a 4th season but if that is the end then it was a decent finale. Not sure why anyone is going on about War of the Worlds / HG Wells, I don't think at any point I was thinking it was remotely like the HG Wells story or based on it. They could have called it War Of ... but then it would be a long complex title.

No idea why they called it War of the Worlds when it has next to nothing to do with the book. The same company will probably make a series about an orphan that plays football and becomes a celebrity next and call it Oliver Twist.

Why have we lost the subtitles for the French speaking parts? They were there in 1 and 2 so why have we lost them in season 3? I am missing an awful lot, not being able to understand what they are saying.
