Behind the scenes really gave me more understanding. Thranduil is basically 1, 000s of years old at this point, he wouldn’t have all the fanciful fighting like Legolas. His strikes are fierce and precise. And I think it adds a great superiority touch 👌

In the Books the Orcs were terrified of Thranduil’s mere presence and ran away as soon as they saw him cuz they could „see” all the Orcs he had and would slain in his Eyes

In the books Thranduil changes heart after the orcs attack, as he realizes elves and dwarfs have a greater enemy than each other.
In the movie they shouldn’t have changed it that Thranduil later changed his mind and decided to leave the dwarfs to fight alone
