I know I'm a bit late to this since Batman Arkham City has been around for many years now, but I hope you like my animation! It was based entirely from reading the comments section while listening to the song on YouTube! So if you liked it, thank the comments section!

I actually don't think Batman would have cried after hearing this message, but I figured I would animate it anyway since so many people seemed to want to see it.

But what's your opinion? Do you think Batman would have cried?

I can imagine him crying, not because "omg he ded" but because Bats feels he failed Joker.
His sense of duty would drive him to that place. They fought for many years and tried to help him get sane, he failed. Then in ArkCity he got the cure but Joker attacked him and couldn't drink it in time and died. In a way, Bats may feel he killed or at least is responsible for the Joker's death.

Now listening to it after Kevin’s death seems like the joker’s message of he was his only friend and Batman he could ever love.

Rest in peace Kevin Conroy. 😢

I'm a little late, but oh my God. My eyes got watery. They had such a close relationship in a way. Batman may not have cried, but I bet he sat in bed every night and thought about that last special message Joker sent to Batman.

I imagine how hard was for Batman to go to The Joker files and declare "deceased".

I can totally imagine him sulking like that as he tries to assimilate the concept of jokers death, maybe thats th reason why he took some time away since the next game catwoman says that line that she hasn't s3en batman since joker died. I love your animation!

This reminds me of a joke. Two inmates are in an insane asylum, and they decide they've had enough and try to break out. As they do, there's one final obstacle in their way: they have to jump rooftops. The first one does it easily, but his friend... His friend is terrified of falling so close to freedom. Thie first inmate give a suggestion "I still have my flashlight, I'll shine it across and you can just walk across the beam of light." His friend replies" what do you think I'm crazy?! You'll just turn it off when I'm halfway across."

Alfred: Master Bruce, why do you keep listening to that dreadful recording?
Bruce: I failed him

Oddly enough, I think Batman did mourn Joker in his own way. When it comes to hero and villain rivalries, Batman and Joker are unique because they have this weird friendship despite being sworn enemies. They both know each other so well that they might as well be best friends, and even though Joker makes that clear on his part (although he shows it by making Batman’s life Hell), there are subtle hints that Batman feels a deep respect and even begrudging fondness for Joker.

So much emotion and beauty put into this. Joker singing Only You (And You Only) is saddening yet sweet to hear. It feels bittersweet, if that's the correct word.

The animation is wonderful as well! I love how it's drawn.

Batman and Joker really did complete each other.

I'm literally crying and reanalysing all the batjokes canonic content. Like the realisation that Batman really COULD change Joker only if he wanted to

I think he would be relieved that he's finally stopped, but also kind of empty at the realization that the only person who truly understood what batman was supposed to represent, is now dead, he would cry, out of emptyness and relief

I don't believe my eyes.

As someone who:
-listened to joker's singing (without the instrumental) for YEARS because it always soothed me whenever i was in a dark place
-is a batjokes shipper
-always wanted to make an animation much like this myself about how i imagined batman reacting to his message
-saw those comments you pointed out and practically read all of them, along with seeing at least 123 different only you edits that used arkham footage

you have NO idea how happy i am to see someone make this.
I really really love the transitions and shadows and the idea is just so simple and nice- just- i don't know what to say!

Thanks so much for making this! I wish i found this sooner!
