Why North Dakota Wasn't Technically a State Until 2012

This is the most I've heard the words North and Dakota said by one person in my life. And half my extended family lives there

Man, and I've told people that North Dakota wasn't a real state ironically, even before 2012. Never realized it was technically accurate.

I was forced to do a school report on a state, however we did not get to pick the state and I ended up with North Dakota while other people got states that you know have some meaning. Ever since that report I have had an emotional connection to North Dakota.

I would fight for ND to not have been a state until 2012 and then demand all federal taxes returned to me that I paid prior to 2012 if I lived there 🤣🤣

Ohio wasn't technically a state until 1953! When Ohio was getting ready to celebrate it's 150th year as a state, it was discovered that back in 1803 during the statehood process, something had been omitted. I believe a special act of congress was passed to make Ohio a state retroactively to 1803.
