It's always awesome to hear the same things JBP says be also said in a different way by comedians. There are many similar lines from Bill Burr, Dave Chapelle, Ricky Gervais, Joe Rogan, etc.

I've always taken the approach that everything I do matters. Personal accountability is my #1 moral value. I grew up surrounded by adults who do the opposite and saw that their outcomes weren't good.

I'll admit, it's not a pleasant way to live life. The flogging I give myself when I screw up is pretty unbearable.

It's taken me decades to learn that the grace and forgiveness I offer others can be applied to myself. To be honest, you MUST forgive yourself or you'll be terrified to do *anything* at all. This leads to paralysis. That's no way to live life.

In addition, people of unexamined life don’t like change, and they never try to change themselves to become a better person. They don’t know why they need to change, and why they should pursue a better life.
