The Airfix 1/72 Spitfire F.Mk.22 is a decent kit. I wrongly suggested Airfix had missed with this one based on the unboxing, but no, this is a great little kit.

Great video. I like the fact they've botheresd to do these less well known variants in 1/72 plus interesting markings. ( see the newer Spit Vc with Australian markings and a chin plus a clipped version of the 'C' wing in the same box. Thank you for the info on your primer choice. Very clever. I was wondering why you hadn't gone the black gloss primer route. Very helpful. Thanks again Captain!!!😊

picked this kit up about a month ago, always wanted to add a 1/72 griffon spitfire to my collection, on the subject of high speed silver, xtracolour do an enamel version XO38, which I've used for some time, brushes on nicely right out of the tin, and really catches that "silver painted not metal" look!

Dear Captain,
I like your presentation- it is very engaging!
1/72 scale is not fair on my rheumy old eyes and so I would pay good coin for a 1/48 version of this mark. I might perhaps shell out for a 1:32 version…
Great model finish- uncomplicated and good to look at. I liked the tip on white primer for the silver paint.
Thanks and regards,
Z

I just happen to be in the decalnstage of this exact model. I have found it an enjoyable build though not quite as much as the Mk1a for some reason. I think it may be the sprue gates, some just seem a bit too wide.
I also painted the red rather than use the decals. Looks better that way though they do actually seem to match the Humbrol 19 quite well.
Hoping to have it finished soon.

Brilliant model! I’d love to build this alongside the very early Mk1 they released a few years ago. Picked this up a few weeks ago, now just have to find somewhere with that Mk1 still in stock 😭

How *dare* you update your opinions with new information and not stick to your guns!

Haha no, but seriously, it came out great! It's always good to hear that you had a good time building, it's always nice to be proven wrong when it means that it improves your experience!

... or maybe that's the drink talking after playing the Cpt. rant drinking game, who can say?

You sound just like me in your commentary, (Please don't take that as an insult.) You also have a similar mindset to me when it comes to your models. Yes, technically more or less accurate but what the hell, it's my model and I'm going to make it how I like because I'm the one who's going to look at it. Modelling should be fun, not a competition, we'll leave that sh*t to the "professionals".
My Regards....

There's lots of "Spitfire" in a Mk22.
