Pacific Park is an amusement park most people have seen, but few know it by name. This is the park on the famous Santa Monica Pier that is usually used for an establishing shot of Los Angeles on TV. This park only spans 2 acres, but it has a decent lineup all things considered.

I went to this place in 1999 during my first trip to USA,
The swinging dragon boat ride was the one ride I remember & never forgot about.
At 8 years old I was so terrified on that ride, that no ride today I have ever ridden even comes close to topping it.
This place sure is a park that has played a big role in the development of my big interest in theme parks & other thrill attractions.
However that dragon swinging boat was the scariest ride I ever experienced physically, a record that has never been topped by any roller coaster or flat ride to this day.

Another great countdown, Canobie

I find it interesting that you’ve been on some of the world’s dizziest, most intense, gut-wrenching rides, yet swinging ships are your Achilles heel

although I know you’re not a fan of brass-ring less carousels, I’m glad you mentioned the carousel, for us carousel enthusiasts!!

I have fondness for pier and beach parks. The limited footprint makes for a creative "weaving" of the rides around and through it. Pacific has just about something for everyone. The shark themed cars on the Tilt A Whirl were a HOOT! I love the colors of the park as well. That PTC Carousel is da BOMB!

Shark Frenzy looks like it belongs in Universal Studios (Jaws)

Also there’s a FEC (family entertainment center) like 30 minutes from where we live, that has a Gravitron and a Gyro Loop ride. I had constant intense flipping and inverting the entire ride. It’s a lot of fun

I think the problem is people expect west coaster to be a thrill coaster and its just not that. its basically a steel version of a wooden scenic railway. plus being one of the few coasters on a pier makes it so much better

I was expecting West Coaster to be #1. But to be fair, I wasn't familiar with any of the other rides on the pier, so now that I've seen Gyro Loop, it makes more sense now.

A small little fun park with lots to do. It's mainly so popular because it's that LA beach pier landmark so probably overrated. But not by any means bad, it's also unique to see a ferris wheel like this on a pier.

This park was frustrating to visit. I paid for parking only to find West Coaster closed for wind. Park had 3 hours until close so it should reopen, right? Well, there wasn't any wind for over 30 minutes (judging by the flags atop it) and they said it was closed for the night! At least one of the employees did a National Lampoon's Vacation style skit for me (which I posted as a short). It's ironic that the real life Wally World was where the least Grizwald-isms happened to me on my SoCal trip.

I feel like west coaster is more of the the second star of the park its not a thrill coaster but it still is a great ride for the medium thrillseekers
