Hi guys. I have been making films in Hollywood for over 42 years now and have worked on many films as a producer, director, writer, cinematographer, editor and sound designer. This video opened a door for me that I have not come across since my first class in cinematography in 1981. Thank you so very much! I am going to get into this new technology and see what I can do. I am about to make a sci-fi pilot set almost entirely in a multiple spaceship environment and can't wait to look into all this! Thanks again, and I look forward to more videos!

The way I see it, is that, we've come full circle. We started with background projection in the sets/studio, then went outdoors to capture the authenticity, came back in with blue/green screens, now we're back to background projection, albeit parallax correcting and articulating in real time. 👌

I like that you are a likeable person. You have a good aura and because of this I am a new subscriber. I am working on a puppet music video and a young lady suggested I use Unreal Engine to help make it a more finished product quicker than just using a camera.
So far it's been 3 years that I have been working on this video, with a stage, spots and closeup lighting, props, puppets incredible how much is needed to make it work for just a 5 minute video but if I do it right I may have tens of thousands of views within the first few weeks. Not sure how I can use it but you convinced me I don't have to have any experience in 3d modeling and showed how easy it is to manipulate items. I am going to download the free software and try it.
I am retired now but in the 80's and 90's I worked in Hollywood as a propmaker and anything else in the entertainment field so I know how much work is put into these projects.
I also agree with you that it is better to familiarize myself with these apps before they become the go to thing in movie production. In the 80's many people laughed when I said soon computers would be so small they would be portable and now look at our society where kids now use laptops to do their homework.
Hoping to learn with you as you progress in Unreal Engine and thanks for sharing...

I’m a newbie with 3d animation I’ve been on and off with blender for years. Only just two weeks ago I got the general hang of it through some helpful tutorials. Even after all of the projects I made it’s such a process to do anything in blender. Even the tiniest thing takes so many steps. Finding unreal was a game changer. I definitely didn’t feel overwhelmed. In fact I felt so inspired to do so many things because it was easy to grasp. The assets library is amazing and quixel isn’t the only one. If you look there’s multiple places you can pull assets from. The possibilities are endless. As a newbie 3d artist/filmmaker (and I’m sure professionals can agree) if it makes my life easier why not? Blender is pretty cool but is very complex imo. This video inspired me to go and make something. Idk what I just want to dive into my own worlds!

Adobe was once 'free to use' and they gave away software all the time...but look now!

We're going to have such HUGE games coming out of this engine, half of the world will become addicted if not more.
All those concepts I see of sci fi buildings are amazing and are beyond my imagination. What a huge step this is... revolutionary...

Thank you for showing Quixel Bridge! I'm in the process of starting to learn Unreal on my own and this will definitely be helpful when creating environments!

Your opinion is 100% on point on Unreal! I looked at several how-to's for Ureal, and they just didn't teach me anything to get off the starting plate.

Thanks for keeping it simple. Many presenters ruin any interest by going into Blueprints and programming. These things are OK but not for beginning film makers.

One of the greatest things about Epic Games is that solutions they develop for their big clients like automotive makers and so on - influence what engine have now - they add for free many things from enterprise high quality CGi sector which really make a difference and I hope they will continue do this. I also really love their sequencer. It is for me much more intuitive and fast then same thing in 3dsmax.

Inspiring and motivating content! This kind of technology could let to story tellers more freedom to tell their stories, without breaking the bank account. I guess, filmmakers will must update their tool set, but also change that for the pre-production you will must to create a library of 3D assets to build your world. Quixel is a GREAT gift, but some stories with precise historic building or places should be created before. I suspect photogrammetry could help in create 3D artifacts from real places.
