NEW Canyon Grizl CF SL 8 review: As good as gravel bikes get?

I put the latest Canyon Grizl CF SL 8 through its paces as the tough and demanding Grinduro gravel bike race in Wales to see if it can handle the terrain with the addition of the optional RockShox suspension fork

Fantastic bike which never lost in rough terrain, also great on road. I ordered one with suspension.

I love the Grinduro format. It just seems the best of everything - test yourself on the timed segments or not, but definitely serious fun factor. Gotta get me to one.

Hey David, just wanted to say: keep up your great work. Been somehow watching from the start of your channel thanks to the yt algorithm. And since then it grew to one of my favorite channels. Btw. I own a GRIZL SLX with GRX DI2 myself and love it. Even slapped my road tires on and it’s amazingly fast and stiff.

I continue to enjoy all of the content you upload to the channel, keep up the good work! I’m still waiting for the review and unboxing of all the new fizik gear. Keep the excellent videos coming.

I love my Grizl. I have the 2x with the rigid fork.

Canyon should call the UK version; Drizle, ‘cause of the weather, haha

Loved the review as always consistently good you always leave us wishing the video was longer, a sign of quality I’m thinking

It was my first Grinduro on my Rose Backroad and wow was it a good event. The rain later in the day made stage 4 interesting but it was great to see soo many different bikes. Your canyon looked great. Great video keep it up. 👍

Great video, could use some of that Gelato right now. So jealous of the weather you have there. Enjoy seeing the variety of bikes. Looks like Canyon is about to have a lot in common with that Cannondale $oon.

Recently picked up a Canyon from someone who didn't get to use it at Unbound Gravel. Nicest bike I've ever owned. After some new cables, will be baking freshly, daily,on this brutal Texas summer.

Great video. Thanks. Have been riding the Grail for some years now, and is considering the Grizzle, so thanks for the inspiration. One little thing…..you say, that you will not change anything on the bike. Great, but consider changing the front tyre to the One Ulbratbite model. This combination (OneBite in the back and Ultrabite in the front) is actually the recommendation on Schwalbes homepage. I did it, at got 10-15% better grip on loose trail without loosing speed ✅…..just a tip

I'm sure your competitors were thinking, "Whoa, and here I thought that dude was just a roadie." And I grin but c'mon, David, you were rockin' that dirt and roostin' everyone in sight, if only in the untimed sections but still. And cool that Grinduro is held in your neck of the woods, looks like great fun and food and festivities. And that bike does look like a blast to ride, tho' just a little front suspension is probably enough. If we're not careful, we'll have eight-inch gravel travel on supercross gravel bikes for that true stadium ride. 😀

Own the same bike and have done everything with it...gravel, light trail and road. It's the bike I go for now when heading out the door.

I write the same set up the giant revolt with a rock shock Rudy? The riding experience has been awesome. Honestly think the gravel racing is going to start to go that way getting beat up with a rigid fork is something for the young kids they can do it all day long but sooner or later they’re gonna get tired of this stuff, I honestly think it’s gonna change

I’ll pass on those tan side walls… but I’ll definitely take a suspension fork in the front! Great review thanks.

David, I am so glad to have found your reviews. Detailed analysis by a real rider and serious ride impressions. Well done. How do you compare the Grizl with the Fairlight Secan 2.5? I am torn between the two for the main reason that both offer the ability to run very wide tires. I was originally attracted by the Beau Jaxon. But the price points for the Grizl and Secan are much better. Your thoughts and real world impressions. The idea of a one size does most, even if not every one perfectly, is really intriguing. Thanks again!!
