I love that actually in the video commentary of The Giggle David tells Russell that it got out Mel was in it on that day because there was a crowd of fans behind the TARDIS and Russell said we don't think about those sorts of things! Her only appearances were on sets not in public but having Donna say her name made it obvious! He could have got her to say "Bel" or something on the day to confuse everyone and just dub it later!

Having watched some of the 6th & 7th Doctors' Eras, I feel Mel was underused as a Companion, so I hope she has a large role in the 60th Anniversary Special.

Personally, I love it! Mel gets too much hate, IMO. Sure, she's a screamer, but other than that she was a good companion. Besides, she preceded the best companion of all: Ace McShane. (FYI, if you want to see when we say goodbye to Mel and hello to Ace, watch "Dragonfire" with the 7th Doctor.)

A campy character like Mel would work with Ncuti and Russell. Russell knows how to do camp properly and he also gets along very well with Bonnie.

Very good thing, I love that the 80s who is getting love, tegan, ace and now Mel.

Also if you listen to the juggernauts and we are the daleks. Mel gets really good character development and ooh what she does to davros, proves she is a force to be reckoned with. Bonnie is really good in the BF audios just like the audios gave the 6th doctor a new appreciation, they have done the same for Mel. So super happy with this news

Mel is very underrated if u have only seen her on tv u just know her as that girl who screams a lot yet if u know the big finish Mel then u know the interesting Mel with ACTUAL CHARACTER and not just screaming every 5 minutes

Oh how I ADORE what they've done with Mel in this new series. I never much cared for the character during the original run, but she's magnificent in this return. Fire and steel, just a delight!
