In this video, we go over how to factor trinomials using the X method.

Here's our Unit 10 Polynomials and Factoring Playlist:

Factoring by Trinomials Using the X Method Steps:
- Step 1: Look for a GCF.
- Step 2: Draw an X.
- Step 3: Put the "ac" value at the top.
- Step 4: Put the "b" value on the bottom.
- Step 5: Put "a" divided by the two numbers that add to "b" and multiply to "ac" on the sides.
- Step 6: Simplify the fractions.
- Step 7: Create two binomials by using the numerator of the two fractions as the coefficient of x and the denominator as the constant.

Here's a worksheet on factoring trinomials using the X method (answers included):

4XX + 8X + 3 .
* 4XX+8X+3 = XX+2X+0, 75
0, 75 = 0, 5x1, 5= 1x0, 75 ...
1, 5 + 0, 5 = 2 = (b')
** 1, 5: 4(1, 5x1, 5)+8(1, 5) + 3
9 + 12 + 3 # 0
-1, 5: 4(-1, 5x-1, 5)+8(-1, 5)+3
9 - 12 +3 = 0
** 0, 5: 4(0, 5x0, 5)+8(0, 5)+3
1 + 4 + 3 # 0
-0, 5: 4(-0, 5x-0, 5)+8(-0, 5)+3
1 - 4 + 3 = 0
*** X' = - 1, 5, X" = - 0, 5 ./.
- Are you alright independ Delta this way ?
