AT&T has the worst customer service. I have not once ever set up a new line with AT&T where the person helping me didn’t sneak in some insurance protection plan that I specifically asked them not to include.

As someone who used to work for AT&T I hated how much the expectations of each interaction or call we had to take was. Like we are told to sell everything to a person even if they are in the store to just get a case or have a simple problem. I was fired from there for doing a simple upgrade and didn’t sell the person the TV plan

I work at t-mobile, about half of the customers in my store come in to switch from AT&T because of the horrible customer service

I would tell them to cancel
My plan right now because this is ridiculous and then go to Verizon

As someone who works in the customer service field (not for AT&T but a similar company), cable/internet companies usually give their service employees long QA lists that they HAVE to talk about, or else they risk losing out on bonuses at best, or docks in pay/disciplinary action at worst.

If you’re ever in a call with an employee and they start going off on tangents, understand that these are tangents they’re forced to go on by their bosses, and some employees aren’t as good as others at working them into the main conversation seamlessly so they sometimes feel entirely out of place. Be patient, let them ask the question then politely say you aren’t interested in what they’re selling/discussing your plan. They’ll get their points and you won’t have to be bombarded with any more questions.

I love that the word Dawg is coming back. Loved it as a kid but it disappeared when I was a young teen. Glad to see it making a comeback now that I’m in my 20’s

We used to have an AT&T router in our old home and when we moved we took it with us, it didn’t work in our new home so we decided to try and return it to AT&T so we could get some money back, and AT&T had stated they’d give you money back for the physical router, and after around 20 calls with my dad to AT&T they couldn’t get the credit/funds to his account, it was only until he took it up to court did we get the money. AT&T is selling

Worked for Spectrum for a while and they do the exact same thing. Their employees are trained to sell as much as possible no matter what the customer wants, and it’s not uncommon for them to add something to a plan without the customer’s knowledge

Dish Network goes even harder. Not only do you get this treatment on the phone with them, their field techs are trained that they cannot leave until they have sold you something. If a tech has less then $75 per work order average they can be written up, refused promotions, or even fired.

ISPs are always POS. I’m in Canada, so I have some different providers, but it’s all the same. Over a year ago, I switched over from Bell to Virgin, which is basically going from a landfill to a trash can, which while it’s better, it’s still garbage. Anyways, after switching over, Bell started making phone calls to try and get us back as a customer. We told them no every single time they call, yet they still called. Even now, they still call us at least twice a week asking for us to go back. We’ve repeatedly said no, and told them to stop calling us, but they refuse. They call from different numbers every time too, so you can’t block them. I’d honestly like to know the point of these calls now, cause the sheer amount of them have completely stopped me from ever wanting to buy anything from them again.
