Sachin Tendulkar, argued as the GOAT of cricket has numerous accomplishments to his name. But we haven't seen him play since 2013, so... just how good was he?

The numbers can never tell the real story. When Sachin played, the nation stopped. When he got out, everyone switched off TVs. He was the hope of the country. He was an emotion.

His international records are brilliant. but his performance in 1st class cricket is unmatchable. scored 25000+ runs at average of 58.

Misinformation. He wasn't caught cheating. He was accused of cheating by the match referee but cleared upon a detailed investigation. What he was doing was construed legal, but he needed to inform the umpire of that, which he forgot to do. He was warned for that, but not adjudged a cheater. If he wanted to cheat (which he never would, given his background, track record and overall conduct of 25 years), he wouldn't do it so openly. He's clearly smarter than that.

Imagine getting not out from umpire but still walks away knowing that he is out shows his sportsmanship, he wasnt tampering the ball just removing the dirt from the seam but haters gonna hate

Mind your language man, sachin was not cheating, he was just cleaning the sewing of the ball, and he was accused of cheating over that, unlike australians who were using sandpaper for ball tampering

As a Pakistani I believe honest, he wasn't a cheater. He was a genuine talent and took his craft and became a legend. I watched him every time he played, the guy was pure class. If you were around when he played he literally carried the Indian team through the bad times and still delivered in the good times. I don't care what anyone says but Sachin is a legend most probably the best batsman I've ever seen, if another batsman comes along fair enough. Virat is a 2nd close with Brian Lara and a few others but I'm talking of classy batsmen and for me personally Sachin just inches out virat kholi not because of personal bias, but before India became a cricket super power this guy carried India on his shoulders.

Comparing Sachin Tendulkar with Virat Kohli in a dismissive or derogatory manner is unfair and doesn't do justice to either player's achievements. Here are a few reasons why such comparisons can be seen as problematic:

1. Different Eras: Sachin played in an era with different cricketing conditions, rules, and challenges. The technology and data analytics available to modern players like Kohli were not accessible to players like Sachin during his prime. This makes a direct comparison based solely on statistics difficult.

2. Bowling Quality: Sachin faced legendary bowlers like Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath, and many others who were at the peak of their careers. These bowlers posed immense challenges with their skills and experience.

3. Technological Advancements: Modern players like Kohli have access to advanced training techniques, equipment, and sports science that were not available in Sachin's time. This can influence factors like fitness, recovery, and performance analysis.

4. Playing Conditions: Pitch conditions, rules regarding bouncers and field restrictions, and even the quality of cricket balls have changed over time. These factors can significantly impact a player's style of play and overall performance.

5. **Respect for Legends:** Both Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli have their own unique strengths and contributions to cricket. Rather than comparing them in a negative light, it's more respectful to appreciate their talents and the impact they've had on the game.

while it's natural for fans to discuss and appreciate their favorite players, making derogatory or dismissive comparisons without considering the contextual differences and challenges faced by players in that era thus such comparision is unfair and disrespectful.

Two mistakes: 1. Virat has overtaken Sachin in the most no: of ODI centuries. 2. India did not lose the test match when he scored his first test century. Actually Sachin’s innings of 119 helped them to draw the test match.

The brilliance of Sachin lies in the fact that he performed consistently, over two decades, before DRS, against some of the best bowling attacks ever. Did other players have better peaks than him? Maybe, but as an overall career he is hard to match. You can make an argument in the favour of Sachin in pretty much every department of batting against any batter, and that’s what makes him the greatest batsman of the game

Across all formats, this is by far the greatest batsman to pick up the willow. Sachin Tendulkar and Sunil Gavaskar were not cricketers only, they were emotions, and hopes of 1.2 billions.

Sachin R. Tendulkar is the greatest of all time. Look at the burden of expectations he dealt with in a one man army team for the first 10 years in international cricket, yet his genius shone the brightest. He produced magic under enormous pressure. His batting was right out of the batting textbook. Sachin Tendulkar is the benchmark. It's silly when today's millennials compare with today's players. They just ignore the quality of fast bowling and spin bowling, bowling friendly pitches and no DRS. He scored 16 centuries before he turned 20. He ended up as the first man to score the first double hundred in ODI history, highest runs scored in tests and ODIs, highest runs scorer in world cups, 100 hundreds across tests and ODIs, 51 test match centuries and 200 international wickets with 5 fors against prime Australia in an ODI and a test match.

And you haven't spoken anything about his bowling capabilities. Infact he was the one who recognized Dhoni's captiancy skills.

Not many know why even contemporary cricketers worshipped sachin while growing up.

India as a nation was in great crisis in 89-91 It was economic crisis, its would be prime minister assassinated, Kashmir insurgency Sikh militant. India doubted itself after independence whether it would survive.
And comes Sachin like pale or maradona for Argentina, he takes off focus of all negative things of a generation and fixes their eyes firmly focused on what would be a relief after hard days work.
And the not only he exemplifies batting but also wins games single-handedly for India.
Not only would he piles up runs at tremendous pace but also gives a tremendous start and sets the game for India.
Indians see a ray of hope that Indians get be as good as others and can give as better than others.
While nearly half of the team was involved in betting, leading the team by captain Azharduddin(what a thankless person), he wins the games despite the game being fixed!!

It is also a time when pace attack of opposition teams peaked while Indian pace attack at best was modest.

It was also a time of technology where bowlers get to see every mechanical movement of batsmen to discover any loophole in their batting technique.

It was also a time when sledging episodes peaks with Australia leading it.

Cricket pitches have not turned into batting paradises now yet.

Injuries & controversies wouldn’t affect his focus while he also plays as successful pastime bowler.

Sachin is not just a batsmen but an emotional of a rising civilization called India.

After achieving all that a player can dream of still he is so humble and down to earth & thats his best quality.

His innings where he didn’t play a single signature cover or on the off side, shows his flexibility and adaptability… and this was through the whole test innings.. if that’s not a sign of greatness I don’t know what is..
