Anyone who has seen 90s Tendulkar bat would never make any case for anyone else. These guys remember only the post 2002 Tendulkar thats when the TV coverage became global from India.

1994-1999 Sachin, the greatest batsman ever....no one's close ...absolutely freakish performances across formats & Single handedly winming matches across formats with a weak bowling attack.... aesthetically & skill wise the most complete player

Compare Sachin’s ODI record between 94-03 to every other ODI cricketer from those years and your jaw will drop at how far ahead he was of everyone else.

Sachin scored 15k at 53 and kohli is averaging 48 and yet to get 10k. His average will go down to 46-47 by the time he retires. Even comparing them is ridiculous

Tendulkar 100%. He has 29 centuries outside india. Virat has 29 centuries total.

I would like to cite Kerry O'Keeffe for the core of my argument.
"No darling, Virat's batting."

Sachin played a large span of his career against- Wasim Akram (916wkts), Waqar Younis (789wkts), Shane Warne (995wkts), Glenn Mcrath (944wkts), Muttiah Muralitharan (1334wkts), Chaminda Vaas (755wkts), Shaun Pollock (814wkts), Allan Donald (602wkts), Jaques Kallis (565wkts), Curtly Ambrose (635wkts), Courtney Walsh (746wkts), Daniel Vettori (667wkts) and also the likes of Shahid Afridi (395 ODI wkts), Saqlain Mushtaq (288 ODI wkts) and Sanath Jayasurya (323 ODI Wkts). Then there are many bowlers like Shoaib Akhtar (257 Odi wkts), Abdul Razzaq (269 ODI wkts), Andrew Flintoff (375wkts) etc. who do not have big numbers but were exceptionally good. Sachin played in an era that perhaps is the most lethal bowling era. And he not only outperformed these bowling greats, he outlived most of them onfiled. No one is even close to the greatness of Sachin Tendulkar.

I enjoyed watching Sachin play more than I enjoy watching Virat bat. Don't get me wrong I took great pride in Virat ratching up centuries. But, the stroke play, the on drives, cover drives by sachin were just chef's kiss!

Disrespect for Sachin is too much thesedays. He was the ultimate Child Prodigy who continued to acheive great things - He is like Messi of Cricket !

Both are great! However, I like the stance, the confidence and the grace of Tendulkar!!! Every bowler wanted to get him out on the first ball!!! Being opening batsman he carried trust and pressure of 1000 million fans no batsman ever face!!!

Lara fanboy here. Cannot argue with Jarrod's logic for picking Sachin over Lara. Also Virat fanboy: cannot argue picking Sachin over Virat in tests.

Players of different era, Sachin has more credit because of the bowling quality of the era and India generally being underdogs. Virat is the superior Athlete and has more refined skils. So its understandable most pick Sachin.

When Virat Kohli himself says, that “skill wise there is no comparison” .. Sachin Tendulkar without even a shadow of doubt. To be consistently great for 20 years is something else

I think a lot of people have forgotten that Sachin was a very attacking player right uptill 2003-4, both in Tests and ODI's and even in his late 30's he use to play attacking shots.

I think one of the things which favour Virat is that he is still playing and his best innings are more fresher in people's mind.

I don’t know why everyone is so obsessed with comparison between sachin and Kohli ??? It seems everyone wants to pick Kohli over Sachin . Why are you doing it ?? Sachin has played in an era where 220 runs used to be par score, pitches used to bowler friendly, boundary used to very big, there used to one ball which means reverse swing was common phenomenon . How can you guys compare Sachin with anyone ??? Those who lived in his era knows his value, watch old highlight, Sachin was lone warrior most of his career towards end he got support from Sehwag, Yuvraj, Dhoni, Ganguly but in most of his career he was lone warrior .

It’s not a question. It’s not a comparison. It’s not a debate. There is only one truth, one god of cricket. Everything else figment of people’s imagination.

At 16 Sachin faced Imran, Akram & Waqar on a wet pitch in Sialkot and scored a 50 with a broken nose. Sachin smashed the magician Abdul Qadir for 4 consecutive sixes on a turning track in Pakistan. Shane Warne had nightmares of Sachin. Growing up in the 90s we switched off our TVs when Sachin got out.

SACHIN IS A INSTITUTION IN BATTING. NOBODY CAN COME CLOSE TO HIM.

The people outside India don't know the pressure Sachin used bear on his shoulders everytime he went out to bat. Virat is great but Sachin is the reason many could dream and hope.

Kohli has been great but Sachin was class. Also don't forget the bowlers he faced from Wasim Akram, Younis, Ambrose, Mcgrath, Brett Lee, Akhtar, Warne, Muralitharan etc

Technically kohli isn't half the batsman Tendulkar was. Tendulkar is 99.9 percent purity
