This says a hell of a lot about Marty as well. A frontman who seems to genuinely support his band mates.

This cat is one of the nicest people on YouTube. He has an appreciation for music far different from the type he plays, and he always has valuable things to point out about other's talents and techniques. BTW; that alteranting bass string lick is called the Mother Mabel lick, invented by Mother Maybel Carter, June Carter's mother, who passed it on to Johnny Cash, who, in turn, passed it on to Marty, in particualr, and the world, in general.

Having known and worked with Kenny off and on for 20+ years I can assure you his ability to play any style authentically is amazing. Jazz, blues, Hendrix/Beck/Page he can kill it all. Everyone on that stage are great players and people. Great breakdown Fil.

I met Marty and Kenny in a Colorado State Park. They were filming a promo for an upcoming event and I just happened to cross their path. Marty and his beautiful hair! And Kenny was just like you see him in this video. Great players and nice gents!

Nice...thanks for featuring this band, I have seen them several times live and they put on a great old time country show. Everybody in Marty's band is top notch and can bring it all day long. Marty on mandolin is a whole nother experience, he really gets down in that tight nasty place. They all stand up and carry it, and meld great together as well.

I've been watching a lot of Otis Gibbs' interviews. Many of them are with Kenny. One thing I've come to appreciate about him is that he seems to be, first and foremost, a true student of his craft. Like next level willingness to learn.

I love the Fabulous Superlatives. Roger McGuin has performed with them as well. Marty Stuart wants all his musicians to shine.

I am looking forward to seeing Kenny and Marty tomorrow night here in Jacksonville Florida… also, a happy addition to their unit these days is the amazing Chris Scruggs!
Playing bass guitar of all things ! These guys have got to be one of the most smoking, face-melting musical groups in the world these days

I was flipping through the channels on the TV a few years ago and came across a rerun of The Marty Stuart show. I knew of Marty and his reputation but didn't know his music. The guest that time was Roger McGuinn. They played a couple of the early Byrds songs and it was fantastic. I started tuning in to those reruns when I could (RFD TV or something like that). It didn't take long to see what a great band that was. I still didn't know about Kenny and at some point came across something on YouTube about him and have been a huge fan ever since.

I think I have said this before. One day, we are going to see you wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots and singing with a country twang. 😂😂.
As many have commented, we appreciate your recognition of any talented musician no matter the genre.

I'd like to mention the bass player who often gets overlooked--Paul Martin. He's an excellent guitarist an incredible singer, he was a headliner earlier in his career and could easily be again. I don't know why he left Marty but he gave his professionalism in every performance.

kenny and Marty got me hooked on true country style music, as a classically trained piano player myself it boggles my mind watching both these guys play. i loved your break down.
