FERNOX TF1 COMPACT INSTALLATION - Plumbing Tips

This video covers the installation and function of Fernox's TF1 Compact. It's the latest edition to the TF1 Range, is smaller and really easy to fit. Its main advantage over other magnetic filters is it removes both magnetic and non magnetic debris using a spiral or hydrocyclonic action. Anyway enough babble, watch the video and enjoy!

I've just fitted a TF1 to my own system today and I was surprised that nowhere in the instructions does it tell you to cut 195mm from the pipe work. Is easy enough to calculate but why wouldn't it just tell you???

Hi,
Can I add a side spur to the boiler return if I don't have space to fit the TF-1? So I mean cutting into the return pipe to add two elbows to run pipe off to the side giving space for the TF-1 to be used ( I guess my question is, is adding angles and extra pipe to the boil return pipe ok?)

Watched this videothis morning and went and bought a TF1 Compact, thanks for the review, it was really helpful, and I'm over the moon with the product. whilst the system was drained I added some cleaner.  I've done a few little test flushes from the unit, and it's amazing how much crap it's collecting!!!  Just got to hope the cleaner doesn't clean my pipes

GREAT VIDEO. Do you ever unscrew it at the top aswell and take out the bit that supports the magnet that gets filthy?? Or isolating and draining it through the bottom like you did . Is it the same principal?

Thanks for the video! Lots of info. I was wondering what you like of the BoileMag solution? Have you installed it for any of your clients? If you have do you any feed back?
Thanks
Bruce

Confusion here - the filter as shown in the line from radiator out - feeding into the bottom buffer tank connection - the flow in my TF1 filter is marked as feeding out and away from the buffer tank. I'd expected it to be the opposite - i.e. in the same direction as the outflow from the radiator to the cold buffer tank entry.

So its best to fit one on the return to the boilef correct? But on this system you fitted it on the flow after the boiler?

Hi great vid, this may sound like a daft question,  are there any restrictions on how close to the combi boiler the TF1 can be fitted regarding heat, many thanks in advance regards Fiona

Very helpful video, thanks. Can you tell me if there is any advantage of the standard TF1 over the Compact TF1, given sufficient space?

Hi,
Thanks for your videos. they are really helpfull!
You added Fernox F1 Express Cleaner through the Fernox TF1.
Can you add Fernox F5 Express Cleaner & Sludge Remover the same way?
or would you not recommend this?

Another thing, do you recommend Fernox limescale preventer and can this product be used in sealed systems?

Can the inlet/outlet pipe be turned through 180deg, as my CH return pipe is above the boiler with the flow downwards.

Hi mate, the TF1 Compact and Total Filter, do they require the same gap of 195mm? do you know?
Also not sure if the only difference is the size...? Do you know? I only got 5 radiators in my house and the system is combi not vented.

Hi, I have a Viessmann heat pump unit and also a puffer of 500 Liters for storing the heating agent for the house. Now, the puffer corrodes in the interior and  lots of fine metal parts are getting into the under floor heating system, into the pumps and into the heat pump system as well. I would like to add some anticorrosion liquid in the water found in puffer and also fit a filter like this on the return from the puffer towards the heat pump. Now, the problem is that I have 32mm pipes and all the filters that I could find, are sized max. 28mm. Will this affect the water flow? Won't this reduction of 4mm be a "stress" on the pumps or on the entire system?Last but not least, should I fit the same filter on the heat pumps second system, the one that runs into the ground of my garden, collecting the heat from the ground? I have the same 32mm pipe there as well and the same "stress" questions arises... Thank you!

Hi, I am thinking of fitting one of these, my system has a pump on the return just before the boiler, is it on to fit this on the return just befor the pump ?

Am I right in saying when the combi first starts up the outlet pipe would be roasting to touch and the other with the blue hose attached to it is the return and the one with the hose is the one in witch I should fit it to??? Sorry if a dum question but better to be sure

Hi there, love all your vids. I have ordered a F1 Compact. I'm tempted to also install a parallel run of pipe with a valve (off of two Tees) so that the whole filter assembly can be isolated. Or is that belt & braces??

Hello, thanks . looking the video I understood how to open the drain valve. the manual is useless as it doesn't explaing in details how to do such simple step.
