Sherlock loves John because he, unlike the rest of the characters does not feel diminished as a person by Sherlock's masive inteligence. John is a well grounded secure of himself man, who knows that Sherlock is smarter than him and rejoys in watching him deduce things (He says S. deducing is amazing, while others tell him to piss off). Also he finds Sherlock's unadapted behaviour very sweet deep down. They provide each other with the thrill they require in relation to what they both lack.
