John Mayall was a legendary Blues performer, but do you know his fatal flaw?

Farewell to British Blues Legend John Mayall, who died on July 22nd, 2024, at the grand old age of 90. His achievements include his outstanding bandleader skills, which brought luminaries like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, John McVie, Mick Fleetwood, Keef Hartley, and Davey O'List to the fore.
After moving to the USA, his band members included Walter Trout, Coco Montoya, and Buddy Whittington. I remember meeting the great John Mayall at the Rhythm Festival in Bedford (UK) in 2007. Let me tell you about it…

I’ve seen John Mayall countless times. He was always quite affable, generous with his time ( and autographs ). And photos with friends and fans that he recognized. ( I’m one of them ).

going at 90 isn't a bad thing...never saw him live but did enjoy some of his albums...he had an eye for talent, and an entrepreneurial spirit, can't fault him for that

As a huge fan of JM, can we stick to his music, and positive contribution to the blues and rock music industry, and people he met.
Incidentally, if you haven't already come across it, check out Eric Clapton's extraordinarily moving tribute to JM!

I never warmed to John Mayall, despite being a musician myself and great blues-rock afficionado.
He always came across as someone quite clinical and calculating to me.

He is was a bit marmite some albums were immense some dire so for me snippits were about all i could take, no doubting his importance in developing new talent he was like a feeder musician for other bands to form out of the breakers the best of which for me was Keef Hartley Band

Mayall was always on my radar as someone I should like, but didn't. Part of it was the revolving door of his backing musicians, and part of it was his fake-sounding Slim Harpo voice, which I usually couldn't get past.

£5 for an autograph, that is a bit mean.
