Just visited The Alamo in San Antonio and I could not get this song out of my head. Crazy how this is a song about a Mexican soldier in a battle between Mexico and Texas and it is sung by a British Rock Band and remixed by a Puerto Rican New Yorker. What a perfect result.

Me-xi-ca-a-an... yes, she, ca-a-an. I never saw a video of this song with the singer or band for that matter. I went looking for it on spotify, couldnt find it (pissed me off) so I came here to listen to it, li and behold I found this. You cant talk about 80s music without thinking of or mentioning The Mexican. Always enjoyed it, always will. Theres a lot going on in this song and to me, it all fits together perfectly, with each individual part performed perfectly. There is nothing you can add, remove, or change to improve it. I think that is the very definition of perfection, the sum of all parts working together in such a way that there is nothing you can add, remove or change to improve it. Perfect. The girl singing (I dont know her name just yet but I will find out) totally owned her part, it was so nice to put a face to that voice. Her attitude and approach to this song was pretty bad ass. Great, great song, one of my all time favorites.

The video of the band is from a 1975 Babe Ruth live concert. I just watched it, and this is the first time I’m seeing this video. My mind is blown, lol. The live version is faster and of course, they are rockin out to it. It’s a great version but I’ll tell you what, so is this, I like what JB did to this. Both excellent in their own right.
