Interference - A Level Physics - Master the A* questions on waves

Interference patterns happen when two circular wave forms overlap and superpose. Points where the path difference is a multiple of the wavelength the waves arrive in phase, and you get constructive interference. points where the path difference is an odd multiple of half wavelengths, waves arrive pi out of phase and you get destructive interference.

This video explains how you get interference patterns with sound, with water waves and with laser light.

Other channels cover the content but GorillaPhysics will help you get the grade 9 or that A* at A Level.

Also, if you like GorillaPhysics and want to help me shape and expand my channel and resources, why not join my Patreon community and become part of Gary’s squad:

12:00 isn't pi phase difference 180 degrees

I'm a little confused by how you say minima are created by waves out of phase, because the minima and maxima are both amplified by constructive interference (created by waves in phase), right? And when two waves out of phase by pi meet, then a maxima will meet a minima and cancel each out, not create a minima.

Thank you so much for these videos, I just came across them yesterday and they are massively helpful!

What I find interesting is that the interference pattern looks a lot like a magnetic field when you plot all the peaks.
