I work in the hospital on that island. I used to enjoy taking walks, and actually walking over the bridge to catch the subway. I don't anymore. What was once a beautiful floral place of peace is now a nightmare.

It's so unsafe employees of that hospital hesitate to take that bus 35 bus after 6pm or go outside the complex to wait for it due to safety.

The city has housed them in hotels, empty schools and other facilities, including at Randall’s Island.

Concerns about safety and violence in and around the city’s various migrant shelters have flared periodically.
