Hoover Dam Travel Guide - Exploring the Visitor Center, Overlooks, Bridge Hike & More

Hoover Dam is a fantastic day trip from Las Vegas that takes you to this massive and historic dam. At the dam, you can explore the structure by walking across the top, seeing the visitors center, going to many of the overlooks, and walking across the Mike O'Callaghan–Pat Tillman Memorial Bridge. I was not able to take the tour as it was not being offered but I really enjoyed my time here and wanted to show how you could explore the dam without taking a tour.

My grandpa helped build Boulder Dam, now called Hoover Dam. I would love to see it one day. Thanks for the video.

Once they do the tours again you should definitely consider revisiting. The tour is truly fascinating and you get to go deep into the belly of the Dam.

Never been there but I love that the Memorial bridge was built. Give a grand view of the construction marvel that was built back in the 1930's.

Yep, walking that bridge is a thrill. I've been there twice, amazing 👏 😍

It’s crazy how low it’s become. We thought about going after our injury debacle, but they had closed access to most things. I hope it rebounds by the time we return.

If you ever go to Durango/silverton please do a super long video - I cannot get enough of watching and listening to your narrations.

These videos are inspiring, calming and relaxing.

Colorado is very sentimental to me and I know you would do those locations justice.

You gotta bring pops!

Always been fascinated by this dam, the fact that this marvel of engineering is from the early 1930's is amazing.

If you enjoy hiking then I would recommend doing the Historic Railroad Hiking Trail. You walk through 5 tunnels that were used to deliver materials to build the dam. It is a popular hike with a tiny parking lot so be there early. The full hike gets you past the fifth tunnel and all the way to the Hoover Dam visitor center.

I did tours of the Dam pre and post 911 and while both tours have excellent behind the scenes views the pre 911 was much more in depth but I have no problem with the new restrictions. So grateful I was able to see it all. Thanks for sharing all your adventures!

Nice video. We crossed Hoover Dam in 1992 and toured the dam interior. Also was road construction going on at that time. Traffic was held up and we were on a temporary road section suspended from the hill side, I was not thrilled about that. No heights for me, but I did enjoy the walkway on the top of the dam.

One thing that fascinates me about this dam is the emergency spillway of the Nevada side.

The Hoover dam is a good engineering, it has to be restored, configured and designed to work in so many ways. Low water and high water. 2022 onwards

That's an awesome place. The last time I was at the dam that bridge wasn't there. I look forward to another visit.

Too bad you did not get to do the Dam Tour. It's awesome. You actually get to look out one of the vents you see on the face of the dam.
