This is so exciting! I’m glad they’re doing more and more research and finding out more and more things!

After a long period of continous stress and depression (still fighting with it), my VSS started so I agree with this. It is linked with serotonine levels.

That's a great research paper on VSS and adds value to the neurology literature. First, the sample size (n = 25) is quite bigger than in previous papers, which ensures higher statistical accuracy of results. Secondly, indeed serotonine and/or its networks may be directly linked to VSS. For example, when I was 20 years old I had to take anti-depressants for 3 years. Anti-depressants for VSS patients can be important because they affect serotonin in the brain, I am not a doctor to explain that in detail but considering the fact that VSS patients suffer from anxiety/depression/stress quite often then this paper have significant impacts on the patients' therapies. The anti-depressants may have worsen my VSS and (in)directly contributed to my development of tinnitus and/or eye floaters. There must indeed be an abnormal glutamatergic and serotonergic connectivity in our brain and this causes various problems.

Again, I am not a doctor but this is how I think of this specific research paper on VSS. (I have explained in the part 1 video of Dr. Puledda my symptoms regarding VSS in greater detail)
Congratulations to the authors of this paper and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Excellent study. Sounds like 2-3% of people have VSS. Wish they'd call it Visual Static, though. Visual Snow sounds pretty.

My VS is highly responsive to chocolate (raw cacao or solids + butter), sleep deprivation, and various herbs. The most interesting one is vervain (verbena officinalis) which at times takes the grain which otherwise looks like it's blanketing the object when up close, and turns it into more of a rippling sheet in the eye itself. Kava has some effect. Anything dopaminergic tends to bias the grain towards a colored presentation on monochromatic surfaces. Serotonin is interesting in that it reminds me of the "metabolic trap" hypothesis, where the system enters an irreversible feedback loop not unlike a muscle seizure with overextension of the spine, just in the brain itself. NAC, phenibut, multivitamins, various anticholinergics, don't really do much to it.

I never saw world without VSS I would actually be curious to see how it is at least once before dying lol

So what now ? With those information doctor can start to try treatment right ? i'm losing my mind with it so i litteraly can't wait for something real instead of hoping since years
