Manjaro 21.0 Ornara | XFCE

Following on from my recent run through of Manjaro 21.0 Ornara today we are going to take a look at their XFCE edition. Manjaro Ornara ships with kernel version 5.10 and in this edition XFCE has been bumped up to version 4.16. Some of the new features of XFCE 4.16 include improvements to compositing and GLX, better search capabilities of XFCE settings manager, new features to Thunar and more.

im watching this on the manjaro site cos im a windows normie looking to start using linux and even just in this short run down im blown away at how much better this looks than windows lol

I've always ran with Linux Mint because it was the first distro that was more akin to Windows.. But I see some other distros have really stepped it up in the quality of life department.. I am definitely going to check this thing out. Thanks for the video. You got yourself a new subscriber.

Manjaro is great but I wish we had a os with the good looks of arch based distro but with the more stable and more packages that Debian based distros have like how manjaro it is hard to get a lot of stuff running there

I tried to install the kde version yesterday and I kept getting grub rescue stuff after installing it. That I got from Ventoy. I tried doing it directly written on the usb without ventoy and the usb didnt even want to boot. so I just went back to FerenOS that I had on my ventoy usb.

Green theme, but show desktop icon is blue. Strange. Every time a light theme is used, I put on me shades. Workspaces I always remove them, because I don't understand the use for them.

Scaling in XFCE is BIZARRE- 2 completely different scale settings- The one that has a scale of 1.5 as a choice makes everything on the screen TINY if you choose any multiplier. The other scale setting in a different place only has whole number multiplier choices and enlarges things normally. Coming from KDE this drove me nuts because the scale under display in settings (where the right one is in Display settings in KDE/ Plasma) makes everything unusably TINY. What conceivable purpose would this one have?

How do you reset these manjaro desktop environments like you do on windows and mac os, is there a graphical way or an easy terminal way? I need help with the pannel as I was messing it up.
