As someone who had ever heard the name The Beyonder and never actually knew what it was, I prefer the idea of a being that is immensely powerful, something that comes from outside of the edges of reality and yet only wants to understand why things work the way they do. It seems like such a great philosophical, soul-searchy human experience sort of thing. Rectonning something like that to be mortal just seems like a waste and a loss os a big character opportunity. And this is coming from someone who HATES ridiculously overpowered characters.

Michael Jackson so ruled the 80s that he had an omnipotent being from beyond this multiverse adopt his jheri curl and fashion sense. Boss.

We are beyond. Dreamers. Destroyers. All of reality our whim. Who dare stand before us?

As someone who's never touched a comic book, I have to say the writers dropped the ball making The Beyonder a mutant/inhuman hybrid. The concept of him being pretty much God but wanting to understand life and it's "challenges", experiences, quirks and intricacies is FAR more interesting for character development than him but being a super strong mutant.
I'd even say it makes him _more_ human to leave him how he was because he's learning the same way we learn. Being a hybrid alienates him because now he's a human who's powerful that we don't even see him as a human anymore. Being a sentient force that wants to live with us and grow with us puts him on our level in terms of wisdom.

"The beyonder has sex with hookers... there, I said it."
That made me laugh more than it should.

The infinity wars is gonna have to talk about the living tribunal. And so marvel might bring up the One above all.

Which I believe is Stan lee

This is kinda lame. I prefer the original Beyonder.

I like to think The Beyonders are actually the higher ups and other corporate people who work with or over Jack Kirby in our real world. They are "beyond" the comic universe all together and have the power to destroy his creations and story-lines sometimes even when Kirby is opposed to it.

Everytime I read something about The Beyonder, eternals and those outerwordly charecters in Marvel I get a little dissapointed. It´s a ridiculous amount of power for any charachter to develop and they STILL get defeated by some other (sometimes inferior) power.
It´s like watching decades of people writing themselves into a corner tigher and tighter corner.Makes me cringe.

Thanks for taking this on!  I read the original Secret Wars I and II decades ago and didn't know they changed the Beyonder stuff.

I'm not really happy with them totally changing a character responsible for one of the most memorable moments in all of Marvel history, but if they can pretend the earlier stuff never happened, I can pretend the later stuff never happened!

I love when Rob uses the term 'woman of the night'

They should not have changed the Beyonder character at all. I liked the idea of an unbeatable character. Loved SW2!

But...if there is a multitude of Beyonders, how can that one be a mutant/inhuman? Im confused...:p

marvel and DC world is pathetic, once they need to come up with a new idea all they simply do is "right, glactus was the strongest? fuck that lets make a new god thing call him omega glactus cactus"and simply replace him and then make some bullshit lore of how he was created by the universe or how he is the universe it self...honesty such bs

The Beyonder worked worked fine as a character until the Illuminati story made a mess of it.

So, Secret Wars wasn't the first place that the Beyonder showed up? I personally like the idea of a mutant with the inhuman gene, and what that might be like, but not for the Beyonder. I preferred him as he was when he was a being from outside of the 616 reality. I'd rather see them retcon someone like <name deleted> and say "This is the kind of insanity that happens when an inhuman is also a mutant."
