"Put out a press statement expressing sympathy for the unemployed" - "Because you may be joining them any moment" - Brilliant

"Maybe he hasn't read you live in abject poverty on £81, 000 a year."

Bernard's sarcastic quips towards Sir Humphrey whenever he got a chance is so pleasing as an audience.

Whoever is uploading these clips, huge thanks to you and please continue doing it. This show is 42 years old and still relevant to this day.

I love these moments where Sir Humphrey messes up. They are some of the funniest moments in the show

So lovely to see Bernard basking in the limelight for once, instead of just his droll one-liners, delightful as they were. The greatest show ever made. So thankful to my dad recording these on VHS even before I was born and then introducing it to me when I was growing up in the Middle East. Timeless.

"keep your mouth shut in future" Best advice ever to Sir Humphrey. Well done Bernard. I grew up watching these, still have the same feeling. Great actors/comedians 👍

One of the things this show demonstrated was that characters such as Sir Humphrey and, to a lesser extent, Bernard tended to be considerably smarter in the confines of Government buildings than the Minister/Prime Minister Jim Hacker, but as soon as they were in front of the cameras, radio or in conversation with the public, they quickly got out of their depth and needed saving themselves, often by Hacker...

Sir Humphrey Appleby could talk circles around Minister/Prime Minister James Hacker. Sir Nigel Hawthorne was one of the great British actors of the 20th century. I loved his acting performances.

Interviewer was Ludovic Kennedy, a serious political commentator playing himself. I loved the line "My dear Ludo..."

Many shows struggle with giving good final episodes to say farewell, but I'd say YPM did well for itself, giving Hacker and Bernard one final win against Humphrey 😊

Simply the best comedy of the last 50 years - it hasn't dated a day.

Blackmail? It’s just a deterrent so that the BBC won’t ever give in to government pressure 😂

From the last episode!
Many thanks to the great characters and the wonderful cast who brought them to life, and to the excellent writers and creators of this fine show!

The irony of Sir Humphrey Appleby blasting people who live on unemployment/housing benefit, yet his own salary/expenses is also paid for by the public as he is a civil servant. Sir Humphrey's salary actually cost the tax payers more per year than around 100 umemployment claimants back then. Irony.

One of the best episodes along with ‘The Key’

There are few shows that never become tired and boring.
This be one of them.

A valuable lesson in treating every mike as a live one, especially if you are a high ranking official and/or politician.

As ever, Bernard had the best lines - if the fewest.

I love the fact that Bernard is showing signs of surpassing Humphrey in this conservation.
