I looked up the actor who played Sir Arnold to see what happened to him, turns out that as of this post, the actor who plays him is still alive and well at the age of 93.

' Lulled him into a true sense of security' absolutely brilliant writing 😂

The joy in Hacker's voice when he says "Send him in" is wonderful. It put a smile of anticipation on my face.

Hacker mocking Humphrey was one of the most satisfying moments of the entire show.

It's a shame Jim and Arnold didn't have more scenes together. It would have been great seeing the former try to deal with a civil servant even more capable and experienced than Humphrey 😊

"Can't tell you how happy this makes me."
The dialogue has two meanings.

The comedic timing of both of these actors is delightfully perfect. The mis-speaks, hesitations, and 'cogs-turning' helps lift the highly crafted script.

Oh how I truly love Sir Arnold! Very sleek and suave a bureaucrat if there ever was one.

Sir Arnold. The sharpest knife in the box. Didn’t answer to anyone, not even the pm.

"Why not? Don't you think Civil Servants should ever be sacked?"
"Listen here, noob, you sure you want to start THAT fight? I'd dig up so many skeletons from your closet, you'd think it was Halloween"
"Understandable Sir Arnold, have a good day"

My friend recommended this show to me and said that it is "arguably the best".
I disagree with him, as the use of the word "arguably" is unfair. THIS IS *THE* BEST SHOW EVER MADE. No counter arguments accepted.

One of the most convincing transformations this show pulled off was raising the intellectual minimum bar to astronomical levels, to the point where a character as obscenely intelligent as Sir Humphrey could be portrayed, given the right circumstances, as a goof (sic), did not break the theme or the presentation of the show.

"You mean we can't believe this, he was lying?" "Oh, no no no no, absolutely true..."

1:17 Love how he says "I hardly think so" yet "That's not going to happen" is what you hear.
