PNY nVidia GeForce GTX 480 Video Card Length Comparsion Linus Tech Tips

Going to compare this card against it's top two competitors from the red side, the Radeon 5970 and the Radeon 5870. The GTX 480 is actually very efficient in terms of card length:power ratio. If you have a short case, this might be the card for you.

@Trafficker85 at least note that for guys running 3d... the new 400 series fermis really dont have anything to fear from the Ati guys. That being said I am currently running ati hardware and love it... just saying that nvidia definitely has certain market segments covered.

Taking the 3d into account though, 480 vs 5870 there is a an obvious difference in capabilities. It's not always just about the speed.

In my case, i'm pretty tight on space. I suck at cable managment, and my case is really really bad. I hope this card can fit..now i'm worried how i'll manage the cables and heat.

@bogellenong Definitely going to happen. 3 years ago, we had the 8800GT. Now we have the GTX 460, which is actually a half inch SHORTER than the 8800GT, but delivers one hell of a punch.

Way to go man you are definitly correct that the GTX 480 in some benchmarks beats the HD 5970 Dual GPU and in tessellation its untouchable.

@MindSeeR666 It was a good card, almost as powerful as the 7970, but it uses more power and gets hotter, and is longer. No need for you to buy a 7970, it you're looking for a new card wait for Kepler to arrive or wait for the 7990, witch comes in Q3.

who said i ment the 5870? i said the new ati cards is better.. i expected more from 480.. the 5970 is like alot better:P the 5870 has a few stages its alot better.. so tbh.. its ATI this year. maybe nvidia next year .. who knows^^
