This hurts my heart. What a good cat! My cat would never hold still, let me hold her head and neck or comb her. Brave cat!!
Sending love and healing. Yay cats!! 🐈‍⬛🐈

Please use a warm compress on his chin next time! My cat has dealt with chin acne over the years. You can soothe pustule inflammation with warm water compresses to help promote healing. I also recommend a gentle cleansing of the affected area twice daily with a mild soap, benzoyl peroxide, chlorhexidine, or antiseborrheic shampoo, which will help flush out the hair follicles. When you use a flea comb on his dry chin it can be quite painful. I know you’re trying your best! I hope I didn’t come off as condescending.

I saw from your other comments that this has improved but next time it would be better to shave the chin or trim the fur down with a small pair of scissors. That will keep the scabs from getting stuck in it. If it comes back trim the fur and then clean the area with alcohol or one of those acne treatment pads like Stridex. Afterwards apply a thin layer of antibiotic ointment that is safe for pets. My oldest boy has chronic acne and I've worked with cats for 10 years.

My cat had this problem when we used plastic bowls, since we switched to stainless steel and ceramic, they never had this problem again. And it’s been years. Please switch bowls!

I know this is rather late but I just wanted to pop in to acknowledge just how receptive you've been to all the advice and suggestions in the comment section here. Most individuals today can barely tolerate any sort of criticism whether it's coming from a good place or not. You can tell you genuinely care about and for this cat.

Please don't hurt your cat like this. Wash the acne with warm water and diluted face wash until its clear, or gently wipe with witch hazel on cotton wool to clear the grease and soothe soreness. Clean the area regularly so it doesn't get into the state where you are tearing at scabs like this. Be gentle. See your vet. And yes like other people have pointed out, food and water bowls should not be made of plastic.

Im glad you saw your vet and got some help. Its clear you love your baby and you're trying to help. Please don't let anybody make you feel bad. You do what's best for your baby.

Your cat is very tolerant to let you annoy her so much! It must be important to clean the acne up though. Good kitty ❤⭐

What worked for my cats was. 1) Washing the the area with soap and water really well, then combing out the greasy chunks like you did. 2) changing all plastic bowls to stainless steel. 3) washing and combing every few days until it finally cleared up. Anyhow that's what worked for my kitties and they have been clean and clear ever since.

Hi there, i know your trying your best. Just a small tip my vet gave with my cats acne is to use coconut oil which is safe for acts on the scabs to soften the area before brushing and make it a little more comfortable for your kitty. Also metal bowls being washed super regularly helps too. Thank you for trying

A warm compress might loosen things up a bit s it doesn't tug on the hair so bad. Give kitty some loving pets and treats, they did such a good job

My cat developed acne over a year ago and I did two things and haven’t had any acne since. I switched from plastic bowls to metal bowls. Make sure to wash the bowls completely. I also bought bowls that tilt for feeding, and not one bit of acne has returned.

You are doing great caring for your cat like this. People assumed you didn't soften the area first, why. I'm sure you did. Obviously kitty trusted you which speaks volumes. Happy cat !

I use a cotton pad soaked in Witch Hazel to soften & loosen the acne, then use the comb. I do this 2-3x a week to keep the acne at bay. I also use stainless steel kitty bowls.

Yes we discovered that our cat was having a reaction to his bowls. also make sure you clean their food bowls some people forget and that can harbor bacteria too.

My cat gets these too. Rubbing with the hard metal can cause irritation and possibly worse acne. That's what happened with my kitty. I would soak the chin with warm soapy water then use a gentle silicone toothbrush like they use on babies. The hard scabs will have to be soaked off mostly, the toothbrush should remove all the smaller bits though.

Try stridex sensitive pads. Use every other day 2-3 times a week. Recommended by my vet for my cat's acne. Worked for my kitty.

Soap and water. Rinse well. She won't get cold just from having her chin scrubbed, so don't worry (read in above comment that was a concern of yours)

Make sure you're using stainless steel or glass bowls, and wash them daily if you're able. Otherwise, at least weekly. Plastic harbors bacteria and some cats are sensitive to ceramic

You can use stridex pads, but good old Soap and water works great when used daily during a breakout. It will clear up fast
