The Au: A 1700s Au where Draco Malfoy is heir of a prestigious wizarding family, and Harry Potter is the adopted son of the Weasley's. They meet during a ball, and although a little wary of each other (Draco who has a well known reputation for being a pompous jerk, and Harry for being a famous hero, a brave but rash gentleman) they fall in love. However, Draco who was born under a family with a well known and elite name, struggles against the duty to his family legacy and the loyalty he has in his love for Harry. They keep their relationship low, the people who know being the people who are close to them. Harry is content with it, being a more private man, and enjoys their privacy. But Draco hears the suspicion of other pure-bloods and people of high status, they find it strange that the heir of the Malfoy's has yet to find a wife and secure the Malfoy lineage. Eventually other pure-bloods begin to call Draco a disgrace and disappointment to his family name. Draco takes this very hard, he has a great pride, and understands that this would hurt his name and might prevent the Malfoy's from keeping connections. So he decides to find a solution, one that will let him keep a his reputation honorable, and allow him to continue his relationship. For this he seeks the assistance of Astoria, and together they forge letters that explain their plans for marriage, with Harry as Draco's paramour with Astoria's knowledge. They publish the letters under the pretense that a servant stole and then sold the letters for money. Harry immediately recognizes the lie, and is heartbroken with the fact that Draco rather lie to the world and label Harry as a mere side romance than rightfully marry Harry.
Draco does eventually learn that his name means almost nothing if he is not with Harry and they reconcile, get married, and take their steps to build a new legacy of Potter-Malfoy

Hamilton does work really well for Harry Potter doesn’t it? Like I can just imagine the DA members in seventh year hiding in the room of singing ‘let’s tell the story of tonight’ or Dumbledore singing ‘history has it’s eyes on you to harry. And so many of the other songs would work with different ships and AU’s. I guess since they’re both about war, despite one being historical and the other magical, they have quite a bit of overlap.
