Biden introduces Zelensky as 'Putin'

Biden mistakenly introduced President Zelensky of Ukraine as “President Putin”. After praising the Ukrainians’ spirit in their fight against Russia’s illegal invasion, Biden told the Nato summit in Washington: “I’d like to introduce the president of Ukraine, who has as much courage as he has determination, President Putin.”

Biden quickly realised his mistake, and returned to the microphone. “President Putin, we’re going to beat President Putin,” he said. Biden added that he was “so focused on beating Putin” that he had mixed up their names. “I’m better,” Zelensky said.
