Volantex V761 Trainstar Easiest RC Airplane

Pros
- The perfect beginners airplane. Stabilization system works very well in preventing crashes.
- Fantastic flight time of over 15 1/2 minutes from a single 3.7V 180mah battery.
- Easy to fly through simple three axis control of throttle, pitch, and rudder.
- Has three selectable flight modes. Fully stabilized (won't pitch or roll more than about 30 degrees), partially stabilized (won't roll more than 30 degrees, but pitch is unlimited to allow loops), and non stabilized (full manual control).
- It's cheap for a fully stabilized RC aircraft.
- Although advertised as an indoor aircraft, its stabilization works very well when flying in the wind preventing buffeting and flips. It's ability in wind is only limited by the forward speed of the aircraft. If it starts flying backwards, then it's too windy ;-).
- Does not require FAA registration.

Cons
- Uses common 3.7V 180mah battery, but with micro Losi connector. Batteries of this size are widely available with JST-MCPX connector, but are much harder to find with micro Losi.

As I said, good little flyer. Wish it were a bit bigger, but then you wouldn't be able to get those good flight times on a small 1S battery. This thing has only a 15 3/4 inch wingspan (400mm), so it is pretty tiny. Now that you've more or less mastered the loops, you should try for some "Cuban Eights" and some touch and goes. Start all you maneuvers directly INTO the wind. Pull up into a loop after gathering some speed (acro mode), when it goes over the top, use rudder to roll it back upright, but hold down elevator so that it continues to pick up speed. Once it has picked up speed, pull up into another loop, and roll out after going over the top .... Cuban Eight. Should be able to do Immelman turns, but a "Split-S turn" might not be possible due to its stability. My 1st SINGLE CHANNEL rudder only airplane was 48 inch wing span with an Enya .15 engine on it. The total cost for the plane (kit, which you had to build piece by piece and then cover and apply 'dope' to seal the silk covering), receiver, transmitter, engine and Escapement (the actuating device ... no servos back then) was WELL over $100. I was able to buy it piece meal from my paper boy earnings. I'm sure most of your viewers were not even alive back in those early days of RC, but, it was fun. This V761 brings back memories, but is superior in every way except size. A definite buy for someone wanting to learn to fly RC Aircraft on the cheap. Cheers .. and oh, btw, so jealous of your "cool" 70 deg weather, as I look out on 36 deg with freezing rain (snow tonight).

I bought this model and found it nearly impossible to fly any other way except with stabilization.
I really don't think it can be flown any other way, I bought another one cause I think it's a good buy.
