Liz Cheney is a creature of Washington. She lives there, and her cronies are there. She convinced the Wyoming voters to elect her based on her father's name and some nice-sounding conservative talking points, but having taken office she pursued her own agenda very much at odds with the voters' mandate.

No conservative constituency will ever trust her with elected office again, but mark my words, she's not done in Washington. Her Washington cronies will keep her around in a think-tank or as a lobbyist. When she speaks now, she's just publicly stating her bona-fides to stick around and work behind the scenes as a Washington swamp influencer. Much like Barack Obama is doing now.
