Powerful - beautiful Shiv Stuti from our album DEV DARSHAN

Dev Darshan – Homage to Gods

The ancient Hindus have composed and chanted innumerable hymns and lyrics in praise and awe of different manifestations of the Supreme. More often then not, these invariably depict, mirror and magnify the varied facets of mankind and its constant struggle to live in peace and harmony. Presented here are newly penned compositions by the renowned Rajesh Johri and Ashit Desai.

In Dev Darshan, the exalted virtues perceived in the Divine are celebrated in its manifold avatars or appearances in the form of Shloks (poetic verses) followed by Stotras (devotional lyrics of praise) and ending with Bhajans (chants) in praise of the Deity. We begin, as is appropriate, with Lord Ganesh, followed by Goddess Shakti (Devi), Lords Krishna, Shiv (Shankar), Ram and Vishnu.

Lord Ganesh: The Elephant headed son of Lord Shiv and Parvati, is considered to be the remover of obstacles, a patron of letters and learning and is the first God invoked at the beginning of worship.

Goddess Devi or Shakti: Is seen as the supreme Goddess representing the Divine will and mother who calls for absolute surrender.

Lord Krishna: The flute bearing Krishna, said to be the eighth avatar of Lord Vishnu, is most popular of all the Deities. One of his many facets and the most revered is that of the Divine Lover.

Lord Shiv (Shankar): the Auspicious One is one of the main deities in Hinduism and primarily known as a destroyer and a creator.

Lord Ram: Said to be the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu, is conceived as a model of reason, right action and desirable virtues.

Lord Vishnu: Is worshiped as the protector and preserver of the world and restorer of dharma (moral order).
