You’re the best instructor on you tube! The limited palette is one reason, and you present us with photos of your progress.

I’ve been using a limited palette for many years. People are always amazed at the wide range of colors I get from just 3 colors: Quinacridone rose, Phthlo Blue, and Hansa Yellow. And I’m amazed that other people’s palettes have a bunch of colors and then I realize that they probably don’t know how to mix colors. I’ve been mixing colors for so long now that it comes naturally to me.

Bonjour Louise from Montréal, Canada. I love your art, the way you explain, you are a great teacher and a great artist. I have a special request, I would like you to paint a pretty detailed tree branch in a painting and the you approach it, for example a bird sitting on a branch. Excuse my frenchglish…. I hope you understand the meaning of my request. Thank you so much to teach your knowledge, I follow each tutos and can’t wait for the next one. Félicitations Louise !

Thank you for giving us your endorsement on a book that you have found helpful and fresh in your watercolor journey. I too have a bookshelf full of books related to the art of painting but not all of these books were as helpful as I had hoped. I’ll be on Amazon today 😊. May I also say that the most helpful and inspiring lessons in watercolor painting has come from my favorite artist Louise De Masi.

Hi Louise. Jim from Madrid, Spain (a fellow artist and a New Yorker expat living abroad).
I saw this book's review in the past and I love Hazel's artwork, but I didn't buy it yet. After watching your video I'll probably put it on my list for "Father's Day"!!
😁👍
I'm a 6 month old subscriber to your channel. I really like the way you explain things in a practical "hands-on" manner and I've learned a few things with you, so thank you for sharing your knowledge.
I'm a self-taught artist at age 56 (my life has been focused on the Biz world) and art has helped me through very difficult health issues in these past years (thanks to my wife and best friend that motivated me to start). I use to draw when I was a young boy but I never had the chance to pursue Art more seriously until a year and a half ago. Thanks to YouTube nowadays, I've learned so much and I'm actually painting in watercolor and gouache successfully (hopefully this year I'll be able to expose my artwork in my first Art gallery here in Madrid). FYI, I'm a wildlife and nature artist, though I also love plein air and urban sketching.
Thank you for sharing your knowledge and expertise... and I wish the best for you. I will continue to be a subscriber because I also love your videos.
Cheers from Sunny Spain!
😁👍😎✌

I love your videos. After I found your videos I have learned to reduce the number of colors in my paintings. Often only three used. Thank you for your lovely videos Louise! Love from Peter /Sweden

I just received a watercolor botanical book as a birthday gift. I cherish all the books that make me better as an artist. Truly a hobby for me with no stress of a deadline but thankful to you, L. for teaching the mix value of just a few colors to create wonderful paintings. In other words, you don’t need that much to make paintings…🙏🏽🙋🏻‍♀️👍🏽Mia

Very good explanation, thank you. I also have her book and really love it. It helps me to understand my colours, but I am just starting, it's a challenge. Thank you and thank Hazel Soan.

Brilliant as always and perfect timing! I can recommend yet another source book to my beginners students. I often feel sorry for them as I gently harp… ok repeat like a stuck record about colour temperature and mixing your own colours just for fun to understand what they will do on the paper. I love limited palette. I am still fond of using more than three or four, but I laugh at the unused hard as bricks old squares of convenience colours on my palette I squeezed out eons ago when I first bought it and debated for days which ones to fill those holes! Now I have many holes…don’t need them all. French ultramarine blue and Burnt sienna, both Winsor Newton, are kings in my grey bowl and are in all of my paintings. I would be lost without them and they give me all the greys and browns I need. Touch in permanent Rose or Hansa yellow medium and off to the races! I have a couple of Hazel’s books, but may have to add this one in too! Amazon is going to get a run on them because of how many of us love and respect your teaching and opinion. ALL my classes hear about your YouTube and patreon. Thank you wonderful, lovely lady for all you do. We love Leo and Dom too.

Thank you, Louise! I just ordered the book from a retailer in the UK for quite a discount! Looking forward to its arrival! I’ve done a few of your limited palette paintings but need to do the first one you did!
