You talk about high school students but show video of elementary and middle school students.

One exam shouldn't determine someone's future career because humans are ever changing. What you might be good at now, you may no longer be capable or have the desire to do in the future. I've known people that scored bad in grade/high school, but excelled academically once they got to college. Our environment and the people who surround us can have an impact on our learning abilities.

My life as high school student was quiet similar, exept cleaning classroom. I got up at 6 a.m., took the train, classes started at 8, we finished school at 3p.m. It was 5 by the time I got home and had to study for another 2-3 hours . It was very difficult, more hard then the University .

May blow some minds but if a US student decides to go to community college before going to university or even get a bachelor's degree from a community college.... there aren't any entrance exams. You just enroll and attend. There are placement exams but they don't determine if you can enroll or not. They just determine what level classes you can begin taking. You can even not complete the last one or two years of high school in many states if you don't want to and just begin at the college. You just need to get the high school's permission.

I like the responsibility the children learn.

I always thought i hated Japanese students schedule for being vigorous , turns out their schedule is pretty similar to mine so now i hate my life.

Ps: indian students might even have it more difficult as most government school starts at 7 whereas private school starts at 8 but if you live far you have to still wake up 5 in the morning. We usually have 3 to 4 hours of coaching in afternoon to evening, get back home , study complete your homework .

That's why many Japanese high school students used to study abroad in college in the US.

In Ukraine my schedule during the last school year was almost the same: I woke up at 6 am, had school from 8:30 to 3:05, there were some days when it was my turn to clean the classroom so I finished about 15:45. I could afford only 1 tutor and visited her twice a week (yep, no online back then) and had a lot of homework. And yeah we can choose any 4 subjects we want to pass but the results can turn your life either in a way you considered or another one.

I was teaching in japan, ignoring the highschoolers, i was stunned by the 6 and 7 yr olds who had cram school until 9pm... aussie kids that age are in bed by 7.30 😶 (my fam wasn't aussie so my bedtime was 9pm... which is considered "late")

Morning exercises are in fact the best as it prepares your brain for learning

Getting to school at 8 and getting home at around 7? Yeah, in my wildest fucking dreams. I got to school at like 5:30 and got home at around 8.

Living in a school all day long I love school but that's too much for me.

Prehapts this is the place to start socal change. Seperate the National Exam from High School. Make it the busness of the nexr year. So people can have better study time as both a student of high school then again as a candidate for the National Exam. This gives a person time to have a bit of a life with less pressure. And gives one a chance to mature a bit more before the rigors of a college education.

It was similar for me.

8am-1pm Morning session, main school hours.
3pm-5pm Extra classes/Religious class
8pm-9pm Evening class/Tuition

I do homework in between classes while eating. Even on weekend, still got things to do like sports and more.

My senior year as a american, woke up, went to school, slept in class the first 2 periods, went to lunch, skipped afternoon classes, stayed in gym to play pick up basketball 🏀, headed home for a nap and dinner. I was eighteen my senior year as was the legal drinking age. Would hit the bar for a few hours, come home and go to bed. Screw Japan kids, this is a tough day, possible hang over the next day if I stayed to long at my watering hole.
