I don’t know a lot about tennis but I play it (casually) and watch it a lot but from what I’ve seen Tiafoe’s quick serve is pretty good. It’s also 130 mph

I think that Sampras has a better server than Ivanišević but it’s pretty close. Because Goran double faulted pretty frequently and he had a much lower first serve percentage then Sampras.

Okay, clearly this list has some big problems. Career shares of service games won: 1. Karlovic (91.87%), 2. Isner (91.81%) and Roddick is 4th at 90.11%.

Roddick had a great forehand, but let's be real here: he won those games because his serve was near impossible to return properly. Sampras comes in 8th at 88.75% and Ivanisevic is 21st at 85.70%. The REALLY huge difference here is that, while they both won almost all 1st serve points (Ivanisevic is 2nd at 82.45% and Sampras is 6th at 80.92%), they got those 1st serve points less than 60% of the time (Ivanisevic stands 598th at 54.90% and Sampras comes in 320th place at 59.47%)... Roddick did slightly better, enjoying 1st serve 64.81% of the time for the 80th rank. Shockingly, Isner comes in 13th place with 69.05%: the guy is carrying a nuclear weapon, but he's more consistent than Nadal.

If we turn to aces per service game, we have Karlovic comes in first at 1.427, Isner is 3rd with 1.303 and Ivanisevic is 9th with 1.103. Roddick is 19th with 0.926 and Sampras is 26th with 0.835.

Based on those numbers, I'd say our evaluation of Sampras has a server may be exaggerated. He doesn't crack the top five in aces per game, in shares of first serve points won or in shares of service games won -- in spite of apparently taking way more risks than any one of Karlovic, Isner or Roddick. Drop him out of the top 5.

Spot 1 and 2 are for Karlovic and Isner. Spot 3 probably belongs to Milos Raonic. Roddick is either 4th or 5th -- he's in the top five of shares of service game won like the other four above. He's also 3rd behind Nadal and Federer at 56.14% 2nd serve points won. Of all the big servers, he's the hardest to beat on a second serve.

How is Federer not in this his longevity as well as holding 3rd place in all time aces despite being an all round player who relys on placement of serve these days. The only reason isner and karlovic are higher is cuz they're servebots who rely on their height and power through.

All of them were quite tall and took advantage of their heights except for Sampras

I made a ranking of the greatest servers of all time, based on 8 categories of stats:
- aces in total
- ace %
- service points won %
- 1st serve won %
- service games won %
- Breakpoints per Svc. Game
- Aces/Double Faults Ratio

imo. the most important three of these are 'service points won %', 'service games won %' and 'BPs per Svc. Game'

Based on that, the top 5 is:

1. Karvlovic
2. Isner
3. Raonic
4. Opelka
5. Roddick

Only the preparation of the serve is different. Everything after is the same... especially the left hand stretched out.

Putting Karlovic in any place other than #1 is pure disrespect. Give the man what he deserves, the God of serving.

Isner the goat. Not only does he ace people like crazy on his first but his second serve as well. He can put the ball anywhere on the court and his kick on his second serve is unlike any other player to ever play. Karlovic may have the aces now but he’s not going to in short time.

Federer, Raonic and Opelka all have better serves than Nick. Also, there is no way Ivanisevic's serve is better than Isner/Karlovic. I know you are biased, but at least put Ivo as no.1
