Some people find it impossible to believe that not everyone wants to be "famous".

She was one of my mother's cousins. I only met her once as a child but I remember her being a nice lady. My mother and her kept in touch over the years mostly by E-mail.

"Several of her friends gave Lee a gift of one year's salary.." - Wow, those are good friends!

I think Harper Lee is an example of how one small thing can inspire so much. She just wrote a book because she wanted to, but it became such an important novel, especially with the advent of the idea of racial equality causing a positive or negative reception of it. That makes it even more relevant and important

Unusually for Hollywood, the film adaptation of the book was actually pretty accurate. Some things were left for the sake of fitting it into a movie, though, so you still have to read the book to get the full experience.

To Kill A Mockingbird is one of my favourite books ever.

I live in Alabama and attended a workshop decades ago led by an author and educator who had done his best to arrange an interview with Harper Lee for years, but always unsuccessful. He did have friends in Monroeville, and went one day to visit them and to go with them to shop at the big outlet center that was there at that time. While shopping, another local came up to his friends and started talking to them. It was Harper Lee. So I don't believe he ever got to interview her, but he did get to meet her.

Some people only have one book in them but it happens to be a work of timeless genius - Joseph Heller and Catch 22 also comes to mind as well as Confederacy of Dunces

That Harper Lee knew Truman Capote... I felt a literary thrill at the thought.

Suggestion: Marilyn Monroe (idk how you have not yet done her) as well as her Husband Arthur Miller

To Kill a Mockingbird is a beautiful book. I read it in middle school and it lead to many great discussions about racism and justice. I believe it should be required reading in every state

In the movie adaptation the character of creepy Boo Radley was played by Robert Duvall. It was his film debut. He’s my favorite character in the movie because Duvall does such outstanding acting as a character with little to no dialogue. He brought a lot of humanity to the character of Boo.

I’m hoping that one day you guys can do one on Philippe Pétain, please!

I watched the film as a child and loved it so much I wanted to read the book (a rare thing for me at that age). The film is one of the best adaptations in existence.

She seemed to have been reasonably happy, she just didn’t want to play the fame game.

I love Biographics. It’s educational, informative, and to the point. Is it possible to make a biographics for former French President François Mitterrand? An important figure whose impact is still felt today. Thank you.

I remember just mentioning To Kill a Mockingbird to my extremely insanely fundamentalist Baptist BIL. He said it was pornographic. Then I mentioned I had read it and asked him to point out the "pornographic" bits... 😈
I have made sure to read anything he had a problem with. And I regularly check banned book lists to find what's in there, for my next read.
Harper Lee was a gem.
