Slavery was abolished in the US in 1865 (not 1890) with the passage of the thirteenth amendment. Not sure where you’re getting 1890 from?

Slavery has been abolished at different times in different parts of the world. In the United States, slavery was officially abolished with the ratification of the 13th Amendment to the Constitution on December 6, 1865, following the end of the American Civil War.

Surely “To Kill a Mockingbird” predates the civil rights movement? And the Feminist movement?
