It definitely should have been a Dick Grayson storyline. Nightwing doesn't have enough villains to solidify him as as Batman's protege this one would have put him to the test finally. Bruce has more than enough villains. Plus Dick Grayson had that time as a spy which could have linked into court owl story. It would have been great but they dropped the ball.

Fun fact about Lincoln March: he’s based off the Thomas Wayne Jr, boomerang killer, Batman’s older brother from the Bronze Age. He appeared in the bronze/silver age as Bruce Wayne’s older brother who was sent to willowood asylum when he was a young man. He gets released and a serial killer coarses him into joining him, making boomerangs for him. In the three part story in worlds finest tells the story of Bruce being conflicted about this new link to his family, while dealing with Superman who wants to bring Thomas to Justice. In the end Thomas sacrifices his life to save Bruce, he would go onto be the inspiration for owl man from the crime syndicate

Gates of Gotham works as a prequel to Court of Owls, and in hindsight, it's kind of obvious that Court of Owls was already planned to follow it up with Dick as Batman.

I loved Dick Grayson as Batman. Between Black Mirror and the Batman and Robin with Damien, it’s such a fantastic character study both of Batman the symbol and Grayson.

As a Dick fan and a fan of Dick Batman (I still love Bruce as Batman too ofc. And/or etc.) with Damian Robin, I feel very much robbing finding this out.

What we got with Court of Owls was still good, but I would loved what u said here to have had happen. And for Court of Owls to be a true Dock story and the last of a trilogy. Man, maybe we will get the whole original (or something similar) story and/or trilogy planned for Dick someday.

Either as canon, canon-ish, elseworld, or something like that. I don’t know how likely this is, but a person can hope.

I loved the Court of Owls story with Bruce but I started reading comics when Dick was Batman (and Bucky was Cap coincidentally) and as such Dick-Bats has a special place in my heart. Would have been cool to see him as the main character in this but we got something pretty awesome anyway.

Damn, that’s upsetting because the court of owls is seriously one of the top Batman stories, period, but having this new thing that even Bruce hadn’t seen test Nightwing as like his final trial as Batman would have been crazy, I think they just should have upped Dick’s part, cuz it was there but it wasn’t that prominent as it could have been
