Collocations and Expressions with Do. Collocation mistakes reduces your fluency and how natural and native you sound. Top tip. Learn English in ‘Chuncks’. Make my homework. Make a test. How can you learn collocations? How can you learn collocations? – Be aware of collocations, and try to recognise them when you see or hear them. – Treat collocations as single blocks of language. Think of the: as individual blocks or chunks, and learn strongly support, not strongly + support. Remember (verb) adverb + verb collocation. Vividly, Rightly, Distinctly, Vaguely. When you learn a new word, write down other words that collocate with it. Read as much a possible. Reading is an excellent way to learn vocabulary and collocations in context and naturally. Learn collocations in groups that work for you. You could learn them by topic (time, number, weather, money, family) or by a particular word e.g. (take action, take a chance, take an exam) Do Used for: Obligations, Actions, Repetitive Tasks. 49 Collocations and Expressions with Do. You add Number 50!

3. Do a favour.
4. Do a good deed.
5. Do a good bad terrible wonderful job.
6. Do a report.
7. Do anything everything something nothing.
