Get some brown and black oil paints and smother it, then wipe off the excess with a rag for an aged look. You could also dry brush some silver highlights on the raised edges of the gunmetal portions for a chipped and edge worn look.

Copper would be a better metallic color for a steampunk gun over gold, also some modifications since you have a 3d printer would add so much because at the moment it still looks like a regular revolver that's just gold. Cogs, scope, long barrel, anything.

This a pop gun i think, there are circular pieces That you would put in the cylinder of the toy, and when you pulled the trigger, it would make a pop sound and smoke would come out, but they are sold separately.

I recommend using rub n buff silver and antique gold colors. I used it on some gun props I modified and it gives it a very steam punky, antique look. Just black spay pain base, then you rub on the rub n buff and it leaves the recesses black and looks worn

That’s a cap gun. You need to buy these special black powder ring caps and when you pull the trigger it makes a loud popping sound and makes smoke.
