Why I Live Like A Poor A Man

Today I make less money, live in the Dominican republic with my family, I go to my local church and I love it here. I don’t have many material things, except for a nice kitchen gear, but that’s it. And if I could imagine being retired, this is what it would look like. I work a little during the week, and I get to enjoy my time giving it to the Lord, Family, and a few things here and there.

1. what are Needs Really; I want to show you my grandma's home, how they live, no running water really just buckets.

The bible says this:

"Foxes have holes and birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.” Matthew 8:20

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Matthew 6:25

Shelter: my grandma had 10 kids, and had a home with 2-3 bedrooms I think it was, and I want you to think about it, they had more beds than bedrooms ( these days, people have more bathrooms than people living in the house )

Utilities but really: My grandma doesn’t have consistent running water, and sometimes the power goes out ( she fills pockets of water for storage ) and she doesn’t have internet

Groceries: everything these days is organic, varieties, and all this stuff. You know how people feed kids, Beans, rice and chicken and some vegetables. It's a balanced meal and its cheap. ( I heard of a couple spending $500 dollars a month on food for 2 people, not including what they eat when they go out ) – how much chicken breast and meat can you buy with that – the money is not being spent on food, it's being spent on crap like yogurt, mozzarella sticks, frozen pizza, and waffles.

Transportation: my Grandpa's all-time best form of transportation has been buses and horses, not kidding. (someone told me I should buy a car because it’s convenient). You really need to weigh things. And think thoroughly about things. A lot of needs are real needs, you wanted to have a convenient way to get to work and feeling good about your 20k car doesn’t make it a good reason.

2. What is life about Questioning Life

- is about fulfilling every desire you have, that’s selfish. And it ego ego-centric and people paint it in a good light, but you saying I do what makes me happy is not a good thing per se.

- Or about buying things that make you happy, that’s cheap because it doesn’t last. The feeling you get when you buy something, it so short, whether you finally get that phone you wanted or that house, it doesn’t last.

- Or is it about impressing people, that never ends because you can’t please people.

Results:
- When you answer these questions what you are left with is the things that really matter to you
- And those things usually are things that you value or your values in life

Values in life: they are being able to invest my life in the Lord, to share truth and time with my family. I don’t really live that way, but I want to start living that way.

- I mean this, for the man who says he works because he loves his family
- But his work causes him to neglect his family
- What his actions show, is that he values his work more than his family ( that’s tough but true )

3. I spend about $1,600 a month, and that’s a lot of cash honestly here.

You live like below your means and in turn save more money and it becomes a game of how long can I do this and provide all the essential that I need to be happy and increase my worth. I think we all need to live below our means when trying to accomplish several goals, if not, you are living day to day and the future is not on your agenda as being prosperous.

I love Tommy’s content. I never miss a video, each one gives me something to think about it. The more I realise it I don’t really want none of the material things I used to think I wanted. I don’t feel a huge desire for a Mercedes, for designer, or for anything else. My drive for getting money is to just take care of my family and be financially free. Not have to worry about money again

I think about this type of stuff I could go super hard to build wealth by taking part time jobs but then I would have less time with family. I make good money now with time for family. I save and invest and live below my means. Plus I have bonuses and raises coming so that is like having a part time job.

Some people pay a higher price to be close to children or parents. This limits your options since you have to be where they are.

You are a wise brother in Christ. ""Luke 12:15, For a man's life consist not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth"".

Are there churches in the DR that also have English speaking services?

Hello Tommy, my wife and I are going to come to the D R for vacations with the possible intent of relocating. We're retirement aged. What part are you in, and where do you recommend? Enjoy your videos, fellow believers. God bless.
