Its pure nostalgia. If I were going to build the game from the ground up, I'd use all the new textures. However having been a player since 2009, I prefer the old textures because thats what I know.

I'm going to give you some constructive criticism.

If you're going to do a comparison video, at least keep the setting the same and make it fair in lighting. While you may think it doesn't make that much of a difference, it really does when comparing things side by side.

The contrast in the jungle is terrible and so is the choice of lighting. The saturation of the jungle makes the items blend into the backdrop, making them look bland and boring. It makes the new textures look way worse than they actually are. Try and keep the biome the same all throughout the entire comparison. This will keep things consistent and put more focus on the things being compared.

The block portion of this video is actually well done and is how the item portion should be done. Showing them all in fair lighting and setting conditions.

This video is either really biased, or you don't realize what you did. But I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt and say you didn't realize because the trend would follow with the blocks section of the video. Hope this helps.

Some of the new textures look like a major improvement when it comes to harsh black outlines being smoothed out, but for stuff like ore it looks like someone blurred out the texture and it can make it hard to read/distinguish at times

If the originals are iconic and the way we saw Minecraft was like that, we see it now and it's the same game, remembering those iconic textures more pixelated and rigid gives me an air of nostalgia of the good, and that's how we see Minecraft and now also what we currently see of Minecraft with the same detail and charm although renewed, more sophisticated, stylized and polished than the original, although there is debate about the emerald block 😂, the old and new textures are like two different aspects and the face of the same coin of watching Minecraft
