The takeaway move can be difficult to master as it includes a blend of arm movement along with body movement.

In this video Chris takes a look at the role that the body plays in the early stages of the swing and shows you a simple yet effective drill to help you establish correct body pivot in your swing.

G’day Chris. Thanks for this. You don’t see many coaches providing “helicopter” views in any of their teaching. Personally, I would benefit significantly by seeing a view, for example the positions you’re demonstrating here, from above. It’s actually difficult and even confusing to see and completely understand the many drills and positions. It’s like “stereo-blindness”, only being able to see in 2 dimensions. I’m sure your subscribers, including me, would benefit from a shift in your teaching to include such views. Hope you can accommodate this. Cheers, Craig.

Great tip. This is a major problem I have for a consistent swing. Thanks

Thanks Chris, you have explained the dynamics of the upswing very well. I focus on my shoulders initiating the start of the swing with no hinge in the wrists. This seems to help with a full shoulder rotation and reduces over swinging or the breakdown of left arm.

Superb content as always! I couple uploads ago, you gave instruction on less grip pressure. I went out with only that swing thought and broke 80 from the tips for my first time, (76) Thanks a million for all this great content.

Hey Chris, I love your videos and drills. I started to play golf last year, and I got a big problem with my transition between back- and downswing. All my friends say that it looks a bit hectical. So you got any tipps or drills to get a normal timed swing? Everytime when I do a break between back- and downswing it feels impossible to hit the ball correctly.

Good tip Chris. I was waiting for you to add the drill that David gave you at his studio.

Great to see you have listened to David Ledbetter and copied his takeaway even the young pros can learn from their seniors but your great in your own right but big respect for seeking advice 👍🏻👍🏻🏌️🏌️

When you do the drill its easy to get the club to go up the plain line but when the club is on the ground and you make he same move its not as easy, don't you have to add some arm lift to get the club going up the plain line when you start the takeaway as opposed to keeping the arms passive which will still keep the club to low. Thx really enjoy your videos.

Great drill Chris I think I have trouble understand the takeaway. Too much arm movement not enough body rotation.to get the look I'll keep at it
replaying video. Thanks John blagg

If its right at the start, far fewer compensations required in the rest of the swing.
