One of his last GREAT scores. Seeing this in the theater, the music was really powerful and supported the movie so well. And no electronics.

In a career with a multitude of exceptional recordings across several decades, Jerry Goldsmith never ceases to amaze. This score is an example. He had come a long way from composing for TV! An interesting film set in a place both lovely and terrifying and Goldsmith delivers. Thanks Fred!

I Love this score, I’m a Bushcrafter and the impact this movie has to me with Nature and the shots they’ve done on camera is just amazing, with this sound in the background!
( apologies for the writing, I’m from Germany )

I'm from Russia. But the film The Edge gave me childhood, I think that everything in this film is wonderful, from Bart the bear to the music of Jerry Goldsmith, the plots and the acting

Another magnificent soundtrack by Jerry that really amplifies the story - with or without the film it's still a great piece of music!

An absolutely fantastic film score from the maestro himself, Jerry Goldsmith. I first gained exposure to this top-tier soundtrack, and the film to which it belongs, when I was tasked to study a scene from it for a college course on the history of film music that I recently had the pleasure of taking, and, safe to say, I was immediately enamored by it. I was happy to find out that it was composed by none other than Goldsmith, who has produced the music for many of my favorite films, including Planet of the Apes and First Blood, elements to the soundtracks of which can be heard here. I have yet to see "The Edge, " but I find its concept to be very intriguing, and if the film is even half as good as its score, I know I will be in for a treat. Thank you very much for uploading this excellent Goldsmith score, Fred!

After following his beautiful wife to a photo-shoot in Alaska, the clever billionaire Charles Morse (Anthony Hopkins) finds himself stranded in the wilderness with photographer Robert Green (Alec Baldwin) after a plane crash. While they try to survive, a tension and rivalry flames up between the two…
Released in 1997, “The Edge” will hook you with very clever writing, thrilling directing and acting and all that set in a beautiful landscape. It will never feel stiff, while watching. Especially the various chase and fight sequences with “Bart The Bear” will excite and move you to the edge of your seat!
The cherry on top is the musical score by Jerry Goldsmith. The veteran composer might have qualified himself for being the ideal choice to score the picture with his prior “wilderness / action / drama”-success for the Stallone-hit “First Blood” (1981).
Nevertheless, the composer provides a great score, including a beautiful theme “Lost In The Wild(s)” that will appear very subtle, motif-like during silent passages and majestic during long-shots of the impressive wide-shots of the dangerous beauty that is mother nature… Enjoy!

Thank you for mentioning Bart the bear in the description. He was a legend who worked with the greatest actors and directors of his generation.

Because Kubrick never cast him in any of his films, I find it hard to accept him as the great director everyone says he is.

If only Bart had played the Wendy role in "The Shining" - he and Jack Nicholson could've made it a watchable film.

Best wishes from Vermont 🍁

Jerry Goldsmith is right up there with the likes of John Williams and Hans Zimmer. A true musical genius.
Alien, Rudy, the 13th Warrior, the Edge, Star Trek the Motion Picture, the Ghost and the Darkness, Patton, and many more.

Hello, Fred!! Goldsmith said that he always looked for the soul and the heart, both in the scripts he read ( hence the sensitivity of the music for " First Blood " ) and in the use of synthesizers ( thus the exciting result of the score for " Hoosiers " ). " The Edge " is a story of human complexity and contrast ( David Mamet is not just any writer ), above physical action/ rage ( in " The Birds " I heard a little piece of " Poltergeist "s " Rebirth "! ), and the composer, even attending to both, extracts beauty from a situation that could be limited. This was his first job without his old friend Arthur Morton ( replaced by another veteran, Alexander Courage ). Thanks and bye!!!

Grazie Fred.❤
Grande Jerry Goldsmith.👏🏻
